I’m Creepin’ All Over Your ‘Nets

1 Nov

Just dropping in to alert y’all of a couple guest posts that some of my favorite bloggers have been kind enough to dedicate to meeee.

First up, I’ve got a little Q&A with Joanne over at Stitch and Witter about my handmade style:
Guest post on Stitch and Witter!

Super fun stuff, and I’m so honored to join the ranks of all the other lovely ladies who have been interviewed! Here’s my interview if you care to know more about my handmade style 🙂

Second up, this is kind of old news (and I’m taking full responsibility of being a Shitty Blogger right now, ok), but I also had a guest post over on Lucky Lucille and this one is all about the Peony and it’s mysterious bust darts:
Guest post on Lucky Lucille!
A few people have already told me they found it very helpful, so do click over if you’re having trouble fitting your bust on this dress (or any dress with a similar dart setup, for that matter – I won’t judge you :)).

As a side kind-of-unrelated-but-not-really note, I just want to announce that today I paid off my credit card and I’m officially debt-free! AND FUCK YES I FEEL PRETTY AWESOME ABOUT IT AND I AM TOTALLY PUMPING MY FIST RIGHT NOW.

It took about a year, and it was pretty fucking shitty – remember when I said I wasn’t going to let myself buy new fabric in 2012 (with a couple of exceptions)? Well, now you know why. But it’s paid off – and I’m ahead of schedule, even, considering my goal date was 12/21/12 (yes. The end of the world). I’ve already blasted this all over the web & I’m sure people are real sick of hearing about it at this point – but I’m just so excited! And it’s totally relevant to this blog since I no longer need to take commissioned projects (which frees up time for LT-sewing), and I can actually spend money on sewing things that don’t come from the flea market. So yay!

To keep this sewing-relevant, this is what I wore last night for the Trick-Or-Treaters:
FACT: Skeleton pajamas always come in handy.
Me-made, of course 🙂 I drew the template and stencilled it on a plain black sweatsuit. Everyone needs a skeleton costume, yes?

9 <— Lucille just typed that. I'm not really sure what it means. She was probably trying to say thank you for sharing a post on her blog 😉 Hhhaaaaaaa omgz we're so lame. You know what's not lame?! DEBT FREE-NESS!!! Congrats, Lady!

  5. Sally at 3:03 pm #

I don’t have a lot of experience in decent sewing but I’ve got a lot in personal financial management. Paying off your credit cards is HUGE and you deserve more congratulations than I can even begin to give you!

    • LLADYBIRD at 10:20 am #

Aw, thank you! Some people were making me feel like it wasn’t much of an accomplishment in the grand scheme of things, so this means a lot 🙂

  6. Jill at 3:13 pm #

Congratulations on being debt free just in time for the end of the world. Seriously, though, that’s an awesome accomplishment!

  7. soisewedthis at 3:16 pm #

nice skeleton suit! did you use glow-in-the-dark paint? and congrats on your freedom from debt! i’m also proud to be debt free (except for the mortgage on my house)!

    • LLADYBIRD at 3:19 pm #

It’s just plain ol’ Speedball screenprinting ink – although glow-in-the-dark paint would be AMAZE. And yay for being debt free! 😀

  8. CGCouture at 3:30 pm #

Congrats! With the exception of our mortgage we’ve been debt free for 3 years, and it’s still just as awesome as it was 3 years ago. You’ll see. 😉 Off to check out your interviews…

Congrats on your guest bosts. But let’s talk real talk here. Booyah on the CC debt paid off! I finished paying mine off this week too and it feels so damn RAD! Congrats!

    • LLADYBIRD at 4:27 pm #

High five to you! We are debt-payin’-off twinsies! 😀

  10. Sarah W. at 4:57 pm #

Enjoy the peace-of-mind rewards of paying off your debt–I know it’s an accomplishment one works toward. Great costume!

  11. Maya at 4:58 pm #

    Congratulations! That’s a wonderful accomplishment.

  12. Dana at 5:06 pm #

Congratulations!!! I just paid off my line of credit as well. Now there’s just the mortgage. Ugh.

I love your skeleton costume; it’s so detailed! I can’t believe you even made separate Tibia and Fibula!

    • LLADYBIRD at 10:21 am #

I love that you know enough to about the human skeleton to know about the separate Tibia & Fibula!

  13. Crystal at 5:09 pm #

Yay for you! You should feel proud. I like that your finances didn’t keep you from sewing awesome garments all year!

    • LLADYBIRD at 10:22 am #

Haha yeah, having a stash is a good thing in this case! 😉

  14. K-Line at 6:52 pm #

What an awesome feeling! You should be thrilled. That’s an accomplishment!

  15. SewSavory at 9:17 pm #

Congrats! I hope you are still fist pumpin’. I just did one for you, too.

  16. Jo at 3:27 am #

OMG that gif rules!!! I must know more about it…. Congrats on paying off your credit card. Being in debt sucks for sure, go you 🙂

    • LLADYBIRD at 12:58 pm #

Haha I have no idea what the gif is about! I found it floating around the internet and it made me laugh really hard, so I had to share 🙂

I’m not surprised you featured in that interview series, your style is awesome! I am now lusting after your high waisted pants too – they look amazing on you so keep rocking that look! And I love that you DREW that damn skeleton. Seriously, is there anything you can’t do? Perhaps a post on “why I suck at Tiddlywinks” so us mere mortals can feel superior, just briefly, would be in order.

    Congrats on being debt-free too!

  18. megthegrand at 2:00 pm #

HELL YEAH YOU PAID OFF THAT CREDIT CARD!!! Well done, my friend!

  19. Marcy at 3:25 pm #

Serious congratulations paying off that card. I remember how amazing it felt to pay off my card, then my student loan, and then my car and to be totally FREE of debt.

Of course it’s been a few years and now I have a mortgage, but at least my house is awesome and I have my own sewing room.

Seriously. Congratulations! I’m sure you worked your butt off to do it instead of taking the usual, lazy way out.

Yay, comments!
