Love the fringe emphasis in your post. Years ago I made a faux leather skirt with applied fringe (cut by me from a strip of said faux leather ) and then applied to the bottom hem with glue. Wish I had kept that skirt for my granddaughter who is crazy about country/western wear. We were at the Opry about three years ago and we loved it and loved Nasheville.

That sounds awesome! I wish you’d kept it too because I’d love to see it šŸ™‚ And isn’t Nashville amazing? Best damn city in America as far as I’m concerned. No, I’m not biased. Ok, maybe a little bit šŸ™‚

Aw comon now. Dolly Parton had some quality country songs in the early 80s.

    • LLADYBIRD May 13, 2015 at 6:40 pm #

Ah, you’re totally right and I absolutely stand corrected (I also just realized that I like the Highwaymen, and they were totally an 80s thing too, whoops). I was more referring to the weird pop stuff that’s attempting to pass for country these days haha. Can’t nobody touch Dolly!

I’m from east Tennessee so we’re required by law to love Dolly Parton. Then again what’s not to love?! Her personality is as big as her hair and so is her heart. I even like that weird Life Is Like a Butterfly song she did in the 70s šŸ˜€

I love the skirt by Amanda Valentine! So sexy and cool.

Isn’t it awesome? That woman sure knows how to work the fringe šŸ™‚

Amen to the Patsy Cline fringe!!!

Long live the Patsy Cline fringe! ♄

I have enjoyed reading your about your sewing adventures, but now you have outdone yourself! Some of this current “music” stuff doesn’t even sound country. Dolly rocks!

Hey now, hold up there squirt. I’m all over some Siriux XM The Highway. Those DJs talk about Lower Broadway all the time and I’m bugging hubs for a vaca to Nashville in Nov for my birthday. I adore the country music pioneers but I’ll turn it up for Jason Aldeen, Little Big Town (DAY DRINKIN’!), or be still my old-ass heart…Dirks Bentley or Eric Church. If either one (I’m not picky…see next paragraph) came to the door right now, I’d blow hubs a kiss and be gone! Ha!

Seriously, the last time this Texan wore fringe, it was as an embellishment across the front of a bedazzled tee back in 1992 on my “wedding day” in a little chapel in Reno. Don’t ask. Let’s just call that one a mulligan – 9 months of wedded disaster. And no, it wasn’t my current hubs. Thank God we didn’t breed. Therefore, fringe gives me the willies.

Lower Broadway is SUPER awesome and you should definitely make it a priority to dance your way down the strip! It’s pretty crowded these days (nothing like when I managed one of the gift shops – especially in November, it was empty as fuck. Lots of room for dancing haha), but as long as you’re not skeeved out by big crowds, you’ll love it šŸ™‚ Everyone is always in a good mood, and the live music is excellent. #1 priority should absolutely be Robert’s Western World, and then Layla’s Bluegrass Inn… but you’ll have fun at all the bars. They’re all good šŸ™‚

And, eesh, I can see why fringe gives you the willies! You should give it another chance šŸ™‚ Make it less tee and more fabulous cowgirl fringe šŸ˜‰

OK, as soon as the trip is booked, you’re my travel guide. šŸ™‚ Sounds like you know the ropes. You guide and I’ll buy. How’s that sound? And I AM skeeved by crowds. Hate them. I live around cows and prefer them to people as a general rule. Hence…vacas in Nov. I did Vegas for my 50th so Nashville shouldn’t be a prob. Hope you can keep up! ha

Oh and if you’re ever in San Antonio let me know. I know this city like the back of my hand.

ALL THE FRINGE AND ALL THE HORSES.

This post made me realize with a shock that I have not a single fringed item in my wardrobe. I am ashamed.

Would you mind me linking to this post from Gertie’s blog, in which she shows a rather awesome Wanda Jackson-inspired fringed dress? Wanda could rock the fringes too IMHO!
