It would seem like the holidays are upon us once again – yay! The sewing world has been so good to me this year; there is SO MUCH WANT. My wishlist is basically exploding in the best way possible. If you follow me on Pinterest, this is probably old news (I keep an on-going wishlist for family members to have a general idea of what to buy me – and also so I can keep tabs on what I want to buy next time I have a bit of spare cash :)), but for the rest of y’all – let’s talk about AWESOME SEWING PRESENTS OMG.
I have a lot of sewing patterns on my wishlist right now – it’s like everyone is dumping their awesome out all at once. You guys. It’s like pattern heaven up in here.
Have you seen the newest Sewaholic pattern – the Cordova jacket?? I love the sleek lines with that sweet little peplum. I’m imagining this is in a really rich boucle, with contrasting lining under the peplums. LOVE.
Papercut patterns also came out with a whole slew of new pieces – and I’m dying over the Coppelia ballet top. Gorgeous! Actually, everything is drool-worthy (if you don’t believe me – click click click. GAH.). If you’re eyeballing these as hard as I have, I would like to point out that shipping is free worldwide until 12/16. AWWW YEAAAAAHH!!!
How perfect is Liesl’s party dress from Edelweiss Patterns?? As much as I love a gorgeous holiday party dress, I can totally see this made up in a pretty summery cotton gingham too.
I love Megan Neilsen’s patterns, but I’ve put off buying since most of them are that swingy/slouchy style that I’ve learned makes me look like a dumpy bag of potatoes. Wah. However, the Briar top looks like it would be so snuggly and comfy in a drapey knit.
Looking at Mood Fabric’s website right now is basically an explosion of one holy shit after another:
This abstract blue print looks straight out of the 60s.
I guess it’s no secret that I’m a big sucker for knits – I’ve never tried it in a silk, but after spying this red silk knit, I’m so intrigued!
Speaking of knits, check out this cool stripey knit – the stripes are different on both sides! So neat!
I want to try sewing more silks this year – starting with this gorgeous floral silk chiffon (REAL TALK: I actually just ordered a swatch of this. I WANT TO BELIEVE.)
I have no idea what is going on with this wack fabric but I’m all kinds of in love with it (and, uh, I may have also ordered a swatch of that :B)
Ok, so, my current go-to mug is pretty fucking sweet, but this seamstress mug has every right to sit in my sewing room too, you know.
In the grand old tradition of stuff-I-should-have-but-I-don’t – why the HELL do I not have a subscription to Threads magazine??
Looking over this post just makes me feel giddy again. Sometimes I think wish-list shopping can be just as much fun as real-life shopping.
What do y’all have on your wishlists this year? Whether you celebrate Christmas or not – there’s always reasons to get presents, amirite?? Let’s dish!
Definitely great picks. The indie pattern companies are really stepping it up, right?!
Yes! At the rate we’re going, I may end up never buying Big 4 patterns again haha
Love all of these! But can we talk about how the models for Papercut Patterns look so depressed and awkward?
Aw! I think both of the models are freaking gorgeous!
Oh beautiful girls, but standing so awkward and sad looking.
holy shit, i was thinking about ballet wrap top patterns last night. I had one that i wore until it fell apart and i miss it so. Knowing the Coppelia pattern exists has changed the (ballet wrap top) game.
Ooh, you need a Coppelia then! You need, you need! 😉
WAHHHH?! How did I not know about Edelweiss Patterns before?! You’ve been holding out on me!! lol I need that party dress for my WWII reenactment. NEED IT! I hope Santa is good to you this year because that’s a pretty stellar wish list.
Oh god, isn’t she so cute though?! I just love the stuff she makes, I definitely want to try a pattern. You need that dress; it would look sooo good on you!
I picked up a copy of Threads last night at the grocery and thought the SAME thing — WHY am I not a subscriber? It’s awesome.
And the silk knit sounds absolutely dreamy.
I guess it just seems so expensive in comparison to other magazines (especially when you consider that it’s bimonthly). But, eh, I guess I’d rather pay more for a magazine I’ll read with much interest – and keep for reference – than one that just gets a bored flip through every time I’m waiting for something to cook in the microwave haha 🙂
The ballet tops are gorgeous! There’s a new pattern coming out next month from Cake patterns (by Steph C of 3 hours past.com), the Pavlova top (with skirt) which looks great too.
Best of all, a free one year subscription to Threads magazine is being offered when you buy one Craftsy course. I think it was in a very recent email from Craftsy, in the last week or so.
Oh yes, I saw the Pavolva top pattern stuff – can’t wait to see it in action. I actually just got my Tiramisu pattern last night; really excited to cut into my lovely purple fabric and make one of my own!
I didn’t know that about the Craftsy courses. I may have to look into that… hmmm….
I meant to add, the courses on Craftsy are FANTASTIC! The Jean-ius course by Kenneth D. King, and The Couture Dress by Susan Khalje have been amazing.
I’ve just subscribed to Threads and got a free Craftsy course which made it an extra sweet deal! Definitely do it!
I WANT THE CORDOVA JACKET and I’m super sad that I cannot buy any more patterns until 2014. That doesn’t mean I can’t put them on my Amazon wish list, right? Love your list of things you want – I can’t wait to see if you get any of them during this Holiday season!
Somebody needs to give it to you then, right?
I wonder the same thing – I buy Threads all the time and I still don’t have a subscription! Your post just gave me the kick in the pants I need to get over to their site and sign up.
I’m a fan of any and all make-your-own-reproduction-screenworn-Hollywood-costumes-at-home. Liesel dress…for the win!
Best mug ever. Oh and why am I not following you on pinterest, instagram and ravelry already? Sillines!
My x-mas list is pretty much books. I have a crap load of books on my list. I also have a buttonhole cutter if that counts. My one friend hates my amazon list because its mostly sewing books. I don’t need to buy in fabric, but more P/P interfacing and bolts of muslin would be great. Oddly, there’s no patterns that I must have. I really want to start designing/making my own.
Ooh, a button hole cutter – I want one of those! I freakin love those sewing tools that only serve one purpose haha. My favorite 🙂
I am surprised Deer & Doe patterns didn’t make your list. I would have thought the Belladona dress was so you. Unfortunately the instructions are only in French but Eleonore (the designer) is working on providing English instructions as we speak. I have the Sureau dress pattern and as the instructions have great illustrations they are easy enough to follow.
Yesss – I saw the Deer & Doe patterns and they are gorgeous! However, I haven’t taken French in over 10 years (and even back then, I wasn’t very good at it ;)), so that’s a little off-putting. I need the words as much as I need the pictures haha. Good to know that she’s working on a translation, though!
They’re coming in January! I shudder to think about the damage that I’m going to do to my wallet when they’re released…
1. La Sylphide from Papercut=OMFG. I really should online shop more for sewing stuff.
2. Liesl’s party dress: Is it mandatory for you to hold at least one side of the skirt up at all times?
3. The jaguar has butterfly wings?! I would want to wear something in that just to see how many people mention the wings.
4. On my wishlist just gift cards to my little local fabric joint called Bee that carries all sorts of crazy wonderful prints. Lots of Michael Miller! There is a print there that has SQUIRRELS ON IT. I will make a dress out of said squirrel fabric and then die a happy person. And the Collette Sewing Handbook is also on said wishlist. But really, I’d just like to survive the holidays.
A squirrel dress! OMFG.
I know right?!
Great list – I hope Santa is good to you. Did you know Cake Patterns have a ballet top coming out shortly http://3hourspast.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/pavlova-circus-and-pre-sale-dec-15-20-cake-patterns1.jpg.
Me, I have asked for one of those cool wool winder things so I can quickly get my wool from hanks into balls without having to do it by hand!
Yes! I’m excited about the upcoming Pavlova. I love Steph’s stuff 🙂
I’m holding off buying a ball winder because I have a friend who owns one, and she loves using it (so she tells me 🙂 haha), so she’s happy to wind my yarn for me. Win win!
GREAT wishlist! I don’t have a subscription to Threads either… Why??!? This must be remedied…
egads. I lurve the “wack fabric”. Not so wack in my book and I’d totally buy it if I win the $250 Mood gc that Craftsy is giving away. Otherwise I can’t justify adding to my stash. SNIFF!
Oh yes, you’ve been so nice to remind me. I need those Threads magazines too! Been holding off far too long, on my wishlist since last year. LOL!
That Coppelia wrap top is awesome. I really want to get my hands on that one. I’m putting that on my list too!
Fantastic wishlist. Of course I’m now lusting intently after fabric with flowers and birds and leopards with butterfly wings. If only. If only. I hope your friends and family are paying lots of attention and you get lucky with this list!!!
Love browsing your wishlist! I usually don’t make them cause it makes me feel bratty, but I put together a universal wishlist on Amazon with sewing stuff cause there are just TOO MANY awesome things out there right now!
