over at oona’s corner of the blogworld, we are having a party-dress-party. please! i will take and and every excuse to pull out my fancy party duds & parade around the room!
my contribution: my birthday dress, of course!
what did you think i was gonna wear? 😉
of course, i already made a giant, extensive post regarding the damn construction on that damn dress – do have a look-see if you want to lurk the inside of the bodice, or pictures of the back, or whatever. i’m not gonna go through that again! instead, i decided to wear it to work today. i work in an office. although we are a little more lenient than most office dress-codes (no suits, jeans on friday, tattooed-with-no-sleeves ok), i’m still preeeeetty sure i can’t bust in wearing a strappy bustier dress with ruffles all over it. i had to tone it down a little!
this angle is all kind of awks; the amazonian height my heels pushed me to (a whopping 5’4″! U GUISE!) means i either lose my head or shoes in a picture. deal with it.
i just put a form-fitting cardigan over the dress & belted it. easy! and can we talk about how awesome that skirt is? i think i might use the pattern to make *just* the skirt – wouldn’t it be scrumptious in a wool suiting? yes please!
in other sewing news, here’s what i’ve been working on:
more pincushions!
the tomato art festival is in a little over a week (august 13th, yo!) and i am so so so so behind on making stuff for my booth. whoopsie 🙂
although i’ve got a nice stash of pincushions going:
i ran out of stuffing to stuff them with, so i gotta holler at the craft store this weekend.
i love that dress SO MUCH. someday, i need to actually learn how to sew, so that i can make gorgeous things like this! and OMG those pincushions are so beyond cute! i realize i already told you that on lj, but holy smokes, i bet they’re so fun to make/picking the color combinations and accents! ❤ you
come sew with me!!
they really are fun to make, but i sometimes get overwhelmed with the details. last night i spent a full 15 minutes looking for the ~perfect~ button for one of them, i mean, really.
ps: i love how you switched it up for work! you look so HOT!
Super adorable! I love the skirt of that dress. And I love your cardigan. That color suits you.
How much for a pin cushion?! I love them!
thank you! i usually don’t wear yellow bc i’m afraid it will wash me out, but i love the color so much i don’t even care 🙂
the cushions are $10 + $5 s/h. i don’t have these listed in my etsy, but if you want a particular one (or a combination that you don’t see already made up!) let me know and i’ll make a listing for you 🙂
oh. oh. OH. thank you for gracing my party with that awesomeness!!! you’re like a megawatt bulb of happiness in that office setting; and the cardigan pairing is triumphant. i’m off to see the construction post because now, i MUST have one…
Okay! Your birthday dress is beyond fabulous! I love it so much!!! And I love how it easy it was to convert it for the office!! And yes, you should totally make that skirt again! It’s really fabulous!
demasiado fino, it`s means cool. greetings katy
One of my favorite garments of yours! Nice to see it getting use and being seen more than once for all your hard work.
I love your party dress it is absolutely gorgeous! Is the skirt a self draft or did you morph a skirt pattern onto the bombshell bodice?
thank you! the whole dress is actually vogue 1227 – i added ruffles to the tops of the bust cups, so it looks a little different 🙂
Everything is just lovely…the dress, the yellow cardigan, the shoes and the belt. Those pincushions are adorable! Love, love, love.
