i love this dress so much, i now have two of them!!

here’s a fabric refresher, in case you forgot!

no review today, since i covered all that last year. here is the link to the first one i made. the *only* pattern change i made was to shorten the shoulders about 1″ since they were a little big on me. everything else is the same!

sorry in advance for the crummy pictures… this fabric absolutely did NOT want to photograph. bummer!

front
the lace at the neckline is a camisole i am wearing underneath. no wardrobe malfunctions for me!

back close-up
(i tried to get a close-up of the front, but no dice. use your imagination)

Photobucket
bound zipper & french seams

i am *almost* done with the red gingham dress… by almost, i mean i just have to slipstitch the seam tape around the neckline & hem it. whoops! no rush – it’s not like i can wear it for at least another month anyway 😥

and now, a snippet from the wonderful world of i-take-on-too-many-craft-projects:

my first granny square!!
i know it looks a little sad, but it was my first (ok, i frogged it 3 times i think.. shh). i’m so proud of it 🙂 i want to make a granny square blanket after i’ve got the technique down a little better. undecided on colors yet – any suggestions?

Your sewing skillz make me jealous. I vote purple for the blanket.

      aw shucks girl.
purple would be pretty! esp if it was, like, 3-4 different shades of purple oooh

Gorgeous dress! And I think your granny square looks great. I recently learnt to crochet granny squares too and my first one took me all day to get a square that size. Once you do them a few times they become second nature. I have made 2 pillows and next I am going to make a blanket.

      thank you!

oh man, you aren’t kidding about how long it takes to do that first square. i think i fiddled with the dang thing for at least 4 hours! haha! i am slowly getting better at them – i was crocheting at the stoplights during my drive home from work today (only when stopped!!). i can’t wait to get to the point of making blankets and pillows 🙂 so fun!

your rendition of this dress looks so much better than the pic on the envelope – I wouldn’t have looked twice at that design if I hadn’t seen the finished product from you and others.

      aw thank ya!
sometimes i think the pattern companies really miss the mark with their envelope photos/drawings. which is sad, because i’m sure we’ve all missed out on a lot of good patterns based off ugly envelope pictures.

Beautiful dress! I love that fabric. I vote purple as well, or blue.

I knew that fabric was familiar, I have a much loved rtw dress in the same fabric…! I didn’t like the pattern cover either but it looks lovely made up, jealous!
