no sewing update today! instead, let’s talk christmas and christmas prezzies!
somehow, the 2010 edition got really huge (that’s what she said lol jk). but whatever, i will likely end up buying most of this stuff for myself as an i-love-you-lauren christmas gift. or maybe you will find something that you want to buy for yourself! yay christmas!
my favorite thing ever that i can never get enough of (seriously… i already have like 5. in my teeny-tiny sewing room hahaha) is pincushions! and i LOVE these from the cupcake goddess:
seriously, i would eat that if i could.
i also found this one from sewchicgirl and it made me lol:
pancakes, marty. pancakes.
speaking of the cupcake goddess, she also makes these adorable seam roll and tailor’s ham sets, which i absolutely need:
actually, i guess i could just make my own. that is, if i had the pattern. and the sawdust. who buys sawdust, anyway? don’t actually answer that question.
i’ve been wanting some pattern weights for a hot minute now:
but these are kind of ugly.
too bad this woman doesn’t have a link to her shop, bc i am all kinds of in love with her pattern weights!
i also want a lot of really boring sewing tools:
a serger pad/thread catcher (since mine likes to boogie off the table)
this chaco liner pen, which looks FANCY AS SHIT
a seam ripper, bc i seem to keep breaking and/or losing mine
and presser feet!
a cording foot
or maybe a bias tape foot… ok, i think i just like this one bc it looks really crazy
little tiny thread-trimming scissors.
pinking shears… my mom told me she was going to buy me a set for christmas, and i told her not to dare waste my christmas gift on dorky pinking shears.
too bad i decided this morning that i must have a pair. hm.
i’ve been wanting this book for about a year now… still waiting on it, since i (nor anyone else i know) really can justify the $80+ price tag it comes with.
couture sewing techniques is only $15, though!
rayon seam binding seems like such a silly thing to put on a wishlist, but unff i love notions, esp vintage notions. mattiecakes actually has a huge assortment of vintage rayon seam binding, at ridiculously reasonable prices.
another gem i’ve been drooling over for the past year… the ceylon dress from colette patterns.
also from colette… the rooibos!
totally randumb, but i couldn’t stop giggling when i saw this:
I TOTALLY NEED A SEWING MACHINE LIGHT SWITCH PLATE COVER FOR MY SEWING ROOM AMIRITE
file this under “weird stuff i am fascinated with”: vintage children sewing machine toys.
and 3 (this one is the prettiest, don’t you think?)
out of all the ridiculous crap i can’t afford, a singer featherweight is definitely at the top of my wishlist:
here are some sears coupons available for sewing machines.
The pattern weights look like they are just heavy washers from the hardware store covered in fabric. You could totally make some yourself! In fact I may need to do that myself. The ugly ones are too expensive! (and too ugly)
oh, i know they are (washers covered in fabric, i mean) 🙂 i am just so lazy and scatterbrained and have so much extra to-do lists on my plate, i just know i would never get around to making them and would end up using the washers as-is. and they aren’t pretttyyy!!! haha oh my problems, they are so insignificant 🙂
I went the spray paint route with my pattern weight washers. Sparkly gold is much cuter than leaving them as is. I did a post on it awhile back on my blog. 🙂
man it is times like then when i’m glad that i blog. sparkly gold spray paint. BRILLIANT!! why didn’t i think of that? hahaha amazing, i think i just discovered my next weekend project 😀
