… and i’m back from another hiatus! this time it was due to apartment troubles and subsequent moving (i really love sewing, but my apartment was literally 30*F! too cold to do anything except huddle under the covers!). i finished moving and unpacking last week, so hopefully i am back in action 😀
this skirt is the first thing i have made in well over a month… i was a little apprehensive at first (not gonna lie – i was afraid i had ~lost my touch~ since i was out of practice haha) but it went together beautifully and i am very pleased with the final result! especially the fit!
i used vogue 8603 as my pattern. the only adjustment i made to the pattern was i used an invisible zipper instead of a regular zipper.
my fabric is some lovely grape linen-look cotton that i bought on sale at hancock’s… i lined the skirt with this crazy periwinkle blue rayon that i found in my stash.
i am going to go ahead and apologize in advance for the awful pictures… i have misplaced my tripod and didn’t have a lot of light to work with. oh well.
skirt back. i love all the gathering detail!
here i tried to take the picture without flash… aaaand it didn’t really work. it shows the color better, though.
inside of the skirt with the lining. i serged the entire thing – even the seams that are covered by lining. this stuff sheds like crazy! this picture shows the color best.
close-up of the front pleating.
i’m pretty happy with this pattern. i will probably end up making it again, in black with some kind of crazy colored lining (i love mismatched lining!! :D)
i’m really excited about having a purple skirt, mostly because i think it will look really good with my new red shoes:
YAY RED SHOES.
Looks great!
I looooove the red shoes!! They will look great with that skirt, you did a fantastic job. I thought the gathering might make it a bit unflattering but it’s totally the opposite 🙂
thanks! hahah the gathering is totally my favorite part… it like, perfectly highlights the butt 😛
