Remember when I said I was going to knit me up an Agatha sweater as my first big project? Turns out Mika is also knitting the same sweater, and suggested we do a lil’ knit-along for anyone else who wants to join! You don’t have to knit the Agatha sweater if you aren’t feelin’ it (although the pattern is only $6.50 on Ravelry!) – first sweaters are welcome too! I don’t know about y’all but I am needing a lot of hand-holding during this process ๐ And here’s the fun part – unlike me, Mika is not a knitting n00b, and she has graciously offered to answer any questions you may have about knitting your first sweater.
If you want to join us, we’d love your company! Join the Flickr Group and stick the badge on your blog! If you just want to watch this ’round, that’s ok too ๐ This is a pretty informal/flexible knit-along – I personally don’t plan to be completed for at least a couple of months.
Speaking of sweaters – I have more swatches! Ahh I am so sick of swatching! I think I finally got gauge, though ๐
Lace swatch
So yay! Thanks again for all your help with my first batch of swatches – I had to go down to a 5 to get gauge. Now I’m ready to knit ๐

In coat news – I finished the lining last night, yay! Started to sew the buttons on and every single one of them broke, boo! Cheap ass covered buttons, guh. I did, however, find a local source that will cover my buttons for me with a machine… the only drawback is there is at least a week processing time. So we are pushing back the coat unveiling and I would say I’m sorry but I’m really not because I demand perfect buttons.
In the meantime, Amelia seems to think my coat is a suitable cat bed:
She knows what she is doing is wrong. You can see the guilt in her eyes.
I admire your patience for swatches. I am a regular knitter and always end up too excited for new projects to properly knit up swatches. You make me want to be a better knitter, haha.
Sewing projects = cat cushions!!!! I decided to make my cats their own real cushion and set it next to my machine. It kind of helps, but they still jump on the newest piece of fabric they can find ๐ฆ
Lol my cat would never go for that – she thinks everything in the sewing room was specifically put there for her to lounge on. Drives me crazy!
What a great idea! I’m ready to start my first real knitting project and was a little worried about knitting on my own. Thanks for co-hosting this–I’m in!
Okay, well I’m about halfway through my very first sweater, but I kind of want to jump right into this puppy. I might (will) use the Miette Pattern, same designer, no price tag….I be cheap. And yard be EXPENSIVE.
Oh, I want to knit the Miette next! So yes, you should join so I can see how yours turns out ๐
The Miette is great, I’m on my second one right now. Maybe I will jump into Agatha with you next.
I don’t have the figure for a short top but I am getting ready to start knitting a cardigan from a Kim Hargreaves book so I will knit parallel-ish to you. ๐
Love that shade of green for your lining. Looking forward to seeing the finished coat. I don’t think your kitty looks the least bit guilty. I have a cat and a dog and both love to lay on my clothes/sewing projects/quilts in progress, etc. The dog always looks guilty, the cat never. The cat looks indignant when you shoo him off, but not guilty.
I’m in for the Miette pattern (http://hauntingmessofbeauty.blogspot.com/2012/01/knit-along.html).
Ooh, fun! I hope to join the KAL in the next few months. Probably should sell the beach cruiser to make that yarn money first. I’ll probably pick a Cascade 220 color, but not the one from the pattern. Good luck, knitters!
