Review: The Colette Guide to Sewing Knits (+ a giveaway!)

Y’all know how much I love sewing knits (just to reiterate: I LOVE that shit!). While knits tend to get a bad rap for being “tricky” to sew, I find them to be quite easy to fit and manipulate – not to mention, knits are worn more than any other fabric in my closet (and I’m sure most of y’all are the same way!). They’re just so comfy and easy to wear, you know?

Despite my never-ending campaigning to get people on board the Knits Boat, some of y’all are still a little scared to take the plunge. Whether you don’t know where to start when it comes to choosing a fabric, or if you think your standard machine can’t handle sewing on knits (spoiler: it totally can), or the techniques just seem completely foreign to your woven-trained brain – there is always room for more guidance.

Which is why I’m so excited for Colette’s newest book release – The Colette Guide to Sewing Knits. Written by Alyson Clair (a patternmaker with years of experience working in the knitwear industry) and then put together Colette-style with clear photographs and easy to understand descriptions, this book is a fantastic resource for tackling knits – taking you from the different types of fabrics, to what needles and threads to use, to the difference between sergers and coverstitch machines (and how to use them – from threading to tension to troubleshooting!), to how to sew knits on a regular ol’ sewing machine (for those of y’all who don’t have a serger ;)), to fitting, to different finishes. Whew!

Although I definitely have some experience with sewing knits, I can always use more tips and ideas for branching out and discovering new techniques. This book is pretty fabulous in the sense that it’s both helpful for knit newbies *and* those of us who have a few years under our belts – I even learned a thing or two in the first chapter. The chapter Stitching and Finishing totally blew my mind, though.

Want to take a little sneaky peek? Of course you do! (psst, you can click the photos to enlarge them :))

serger roadmap

When I said there was a full section on your serger (as well as the coverstitch and standard machine), I was not kidding! There are several pages dedicated to showing you the different parts of each machine, and what they do.

threading serger

There’s also a section on threading- for both the serger and coverstitch (ohhh, someday I will have a coverstitch ♥)! Yay! So much easier to read than those little manual diagrams, yeah? 🙂

serging a corner

Here’s a neat little tip on how to serge an inner corner.

elastic types

Like I said, though… the finishing section is my favorite part.

decorative elastic

Inserting decorative elastic – gah, I wish I’d had this resource when I was experimenting with making my own underwear a couple of months ago. I found the elastic really difficult to sew in, which is why I stopped after one pair 🙂 Turns out I was sewing it in the hard way, doh!

lace neckline

Stretch lace – isn’t this so pretty? I’d love to try this with the new Moneta pattern.

buying fabric

There’s also an entire section devoted to knit fabrics – how they’re made, what the different types are, what needles to use, what to look for while shopping.

Pretty cool, huh? I’m so glad I picked up this book – I’ve learned a lot just from flipping through the pages, and I can’t wait to try some of these new techniques with my next knit project.

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

I’m curious 🙂 This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE and I will close the comments a week from today, Monday, 12 May 2014 at 7:00AM CST.

I would love to make a maxi dress!

  2. craftygirl1001 May 5, 2014 at 7:06 am #

I’ve never sewn with knits but do I want to give them a try. I’m going to make the lady skater dress and maybe some peplum tops!

  3. Kate May 5, 2014 at 7:09 am #

I made a kit dress today, but I would love to know how to improve the finishing, especially the neckline, My knit goal is to make myself a well fitting swimsuit.

  4. Nothy May 5, 2014 at 7:09 am #

I love the section on using and threading a serger. That was my New Year’s resolution this year – to break out my serger and get working on it. What would I like to sew in a knit fabric- a dress. I have the Tiramisu pattern from Cake and I am too scared to get started! (and my second project will be a hoodie). I definitely need this book.

  5. hongroadlome May 5, 2014 at 7:12 am #

I have so many things I’d love to sew in a knit: a bathing suit, basic tees, a bra (some day when I’m not nursing…) but the one that’s next up is definitely Colette Patterns’ Moneta dress. Perfect for summer!

  6. Jana May 5, 2014 at 7:15 am #

I want to make ALL THE THINGS from the Drape Drape books! Well, perhaps not ALL of them, but … you know … several more? (:
I’d also really like to learn how to work with elastic properly, because yes, the way I’ve tried to sew knickers so far was really not all that much fun. And I could definitely use more decent-looking underwear.

  7. Katharina May 5, 2014 at 7:16 am #

    Oh yes!!!
I just dared to start sewing knits – after I bought a serger… So. Much. Better.
I would LOVE to sew a bathing suit myself – I love Retro Styles, but everything I get here in Germany looks just boring or is in a horrible color… No thank you.
Thank you for this opportunity, I would be so happy to win!

  8. Ellie May 5, 2014 at 7:16 am #

I have the ‘out and about dress’ pattern and just need the confidence to get started. This book would be a super help!

  9. Kelly T May 5, 2014 at 7:16 am #

Oh I’d love to make myself a swimsuit! Although I could use helpful hints in all other areas too, just to get my me-made stuff looking a little more professional.

  10. Whitney Luckenbill May 5, 2014 at 7:18 am #

I have been wanting to try my hand at lingerie.

  11. Deborah May 5, 2014 at 7:18 am #

I’d like to sew a wrap dress and my own underwear – upcycling some old T-shirts for the latter. I used to have a serger but got so frustrated with it and not being able to thread it and get the tension right that I ditched it in favour of my tried and trusted sewing machine – maybe if I’d had the section on the serger back then I would have figured it out.

  12. B & the Moon May 5, 2014 at 7:19 am #

I love me some knits in my life, particularly since I purchased my overlocker! I’m currently craving some lightweight cardigans for our changeable british summer weather…perhaps I shall sew some of my own…

  13. Melanie May 5, 2014 at 7:19 am #

I have only used knits to make (several!) lady skater dresses so would like to try and make something else- possibly some tanks/vests and I would love to try the stretch lace to edge them. Thanks for the giveaway! Xx

  14. Jessica R May 5, 2014 at 7:20 am #

My goal is to make the ever-elusive *perfect* simple white tee!

  15. martinamaria May 5, 2014 at 7:21 am #

hi my name is martina and I would love to sew a swimsuit that fits…

  16. MiaBauer May 5, 2014 at 7:23 am #

I would love to make a well fitting swimsuit and I think I’ll try some day, but first I have to do the lovely Lola dress on my new serger. Great that there is a serger chapter in this!

  17. Nikki May 5, 2014 at 7:23 am #

I have always preferred sewing knits, they are so forgiving, I don’t know that I’ve ever made clothes with woven fabric and LOved the fit when I was done. The one snag I run into is hemming them, struggle bus! I love making knit dresses but usually just leave the raw edge on the bottom and let it roll. I’d love to make myself more shirts!

  18. anniehanks May 5, 2014 at 7:23 am #

I want to make a swimsuit…the Bombshell has been calling my name but I’ve been putting it off because of a fear of super stretchy fabric.

  19. nx44 May 5, 2014 at 7:23 am #

I want to make some togs (which is the New Zealand way of saying swimwear!). A bikini would be great. Ohhh Lulu’s ginger pattern, I think.

    • junips May 5, 2014 at 7:30 am #

I would start with a high waisted bikini for daughter #2. Then a slew of T shirts for me. That Nettie looks nice. i love longish short sleeves and tight fitting and low back. Perfect. So sick of buying crummy T shirts from stupid ol’ gap. Then maybe a maxi for daughter #1.

  20. sewmanju May 5, 2014 at 7:25 am #

Haven’t tried making underwear yet…I would like to try.

  21. bani May 5, 2014 at 7:26 am #

I would love to learn how to sew with knits on my regular cheap-oh machine. I dream of making wrap dresses and pencil skirts, more specifically. 🙂

  22. Rachel May 5, 2014 at 7:27 am #

Awesome! I love sewing with knits but still feel in the dark with my serger… To the point that I basically use it just for neatening up seams in woven makes. I could sew so much better if I could use my serger better! This summer… I’m sewing a red, retro inspired tanking swimsuit!

  23. Heather L May 5, 2014 at 7:28 am #

I would sew a knit dress…something perfectly comfy for everyday wear but cute!

  24. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 7:28 am #

I’ve been wanting to make myself a wrap dress. I bought the silky knit, bought the pattern, bought the serger, lol…just too afraid to start!

  25. Rachel May 5, 2014 at 7:28 am #

Urgh! I have a bombshell swimsuit, moneta dress, and several t’s all cut out in gorgeous knit fabric- I am just mustering up the courage to tackle them all! I am pretty darn sure the colette guide to sewing knits would soon ease my fears!

  26. Elena May 5, 2014 at 7:28 am #

I want to make a Moneta, a few Plantains, a Renfrew and a maxi. That should keep me busy for a while.

  27. Sarah May 5, 2014 at 7:29 am #

I want to make a fitted sweater!

  28. Kimberly May 5, 2014 at 7:30 am #

I bought some beautiful tie dyed knit, just begging to made into a flowing dress for me…if I wasn’t so chicken:)

  29. Anne May 5, 2014 at 7:30 am #

I’d like to make a well fitting body. Perhaps using the new ‘Nettie’ pattern. Also a swimsuit. I have a very long torso so can’t get good fit in RTW. I’ve had one experience with knits – partial success only.

  30. Erika May 5, 2014 at 7:30 am #

When I first started sewing, I started with knits. I have always enjoyed the feel of the fabric and could definitely use more instruction with it. This looks like a great book! My knit sewing goal is to make a swimsuit.

  31. lindaho3 May 5, 2014 at 7:31 am #

Definitely a maxi dress… it would be so comfy!

  32. Teresa May 5, 2014 at 7:32 am #

I sew with knits all the time but I’m always looking for tips to advance my skills. Next up on the sewing table is a plaid swimsuit for me daughter.

  33. Ree May 5, 2014 at 7:32 am #

I’ve inherited a serger and would love to make a knit skater dress with it!

  34. Dani Hart May 5, 2014 at 7:33 am #

I used to have an awesome body (a top that fit like a swimsuit) and I wore it to death. I’ve noticed a definite gap in my wardrobe for something like that to balance out a couple of big 50s skirts I have but never have anything to wear them with. Having never sewn knits before I could definitely make good use of this book. Fingers crossed, toes crossed, everything crossed I win!

  35. Anne May 5, 2014 at 7:33 am #

I’m not sure what happened to my comment. Sorry if this is a double posting. I’d like to sew a well-fitting bodysuit for my long torso, perhaps using new Nettie pattern and also a swimsuit.

  36. tatimaio May 5, 2014 at 7:34 am #

I want to make the new pattern from Closet Case Files, Nettie, suddenly I realized that I need a bodysuit, ha!

  37. Mai May 5, 2014 at 7:34 am #

Hey Lauren, I’d love to sew up a Moneta in a cream and navy nautical stripe, mmmm… and like you, I dream of owning a coverstitch machine of my very own, sigh… Mai x

  38. Nicola Mcbeath May 5, 2014 at 7:34 am #

I haven’t been sewing long and I have.been too scared to.try knit fabric yet because I don’t have a serger. I would love to sew some knit dresses and a lightweight maxi skirt.

  39. Bianca May 5, 2014 at 7:35 am #

My sewing goal is a nice wardrobe for a festival in August. It’s 3 days and sofar I’ve got one dress. I need some shirts as well, plus a comfy shirt that can move for dancing 😉 The Gabriola pattern is wating for me, but shirts first!

  40. Judith May 5, 2014 at 7:35 am #

I would love to start making my own undies. I did a long sleeve shirt and a skirt, but I’m still a little scared of knits. This book would really help.

  41. ME Pendleton May 5, 2014 at 7:40 am #

I d love to. A,e so e dressy T- shirts to spice up my everyday wardrobe !! Thanks for a great giveaway !!

  42. Renee May 5, 2014 at 7:40 am #

I consider myself a knit noob, but my knit projects are worn the most often! I currently have a Moneta cut out, but not yet assembled to add to my knit wardrobe.

  43. Colleen May 5, 2014 at 7:40 am #

I thought I was fine sewing with knits but I just threw away an in-progress Anna being sewn with rayon knit. I obviously need this book!

  44. Susan Okurowski May 5, 2014 at 7:43 am #

I have fabric for a maxi skirt and a plain old t-, just waiting…This book would give me the courage!

  45. Kate May 5, 2014 at 7:43 am #

My go-to pieces in my wardrobe are always simple knit dresses, so I really want to be able to master making my own!

  46. Jill May 5, 2014 at 7:44 am #

This book looks fantastic and after learning much of what I know from the first Colette book, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this! I’m now pregnant and after never having sewn with knits before, I have now been forced to take the plunge! I’ve only made a few items so would love to get more to grips with knits and make some wrap dresses and tops for summer!

  47. Sara Johnston May 5, 2014 at 7:46 am #

Hi! I’d love to sew up a Moneta in some Japanese wool in have that I haven’t used because I’m scared of my serger 🙂

  48. Kara May 5, 2014 at 7:46 am #

I’ve just started sewing with knits, and it’s so fun to make quick, wearable projects that end up in heavy rotation in a wardrobe. My “reach” goal for knit sewing would be to make a swimsuit – I am eyeing the low back version of the Nettie bodysuit as an option!

  49. AliceF May 5, 2014 at 7:46 am #

I would mostly like to make my T-shirts myself ! And I would also like to try making dresses out of knits and I don’t really know what kind of fabric to use for the different designs I have in mind. I hope this book might be useful for this !

  50. Lena May 5, 2014 at 7:47 am #

I bascially want to make everything – a swimsuit, T-Shirt, knit dresses, sweaters. I really could use the guidance of this book though, I new to sewing in general and have never sewn anything using a knit.

  51. Melissa May 5, 2014 at 7:48 am #

I would love to make some t-shirts, since I live in them , and some pretty summer dresses.

  52. Anna May 5, 2014 at 7:48 am #

I SHOULD be making t-shirts… but really, I want all the dresses.

  53. Tina Spear May 5, 2014 at 7:48 am #

OOhhhhh, I would love, love, love this book. I want to make a knit wrap dress. I already have the pattern, but have been waiting until I get a bit more experienced with sewing with knits. Thanks for the opportunity for this give away.

  54. Siobhan Andrews May 5, 2014 at 7:51 am #

Vogue 1027 the fabulous faux wrap dress would be my choice of project. Cheers Siobhan

  55. Stevie May 5, 2014 at 7:52 am #

If I was more comfortable sewing with knits, I would end up sewing a whole bunch of boring v neck tees…boring but a staple in my closet and I would love to be able to make my own!

  56. Aileen May 5, 2014 at 7:52 am #

I have never dared to sew knits. Surely this book would help a lot. I would definitely start with a nice comfy dress!! 🙂

  57. deadlycraft May 5, 2014 at 7:53 am #

I would like to make a casual blazer in a jersey or ponte type knit. Super cool and comfy 🙂

  58. Arianne May 5, 2014 at 7:54 am #

My goal is to see my own one piece swimsuit! I have had so much trouble finding an affordable swimsuit that fits, I think on the end the only way to accomplish thatnisbyo make my own.

  59. Funnygrrl May 5, 2014 at 7:54 am #

I have sewn some knits but it does intimidate me.
I do need some boring tees! 🙂 I would probably start there.
    Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

  60. Nicole May 5, 2014 at 7:55 am #

I loves me a v neck tee, so I’d crank out bazillions if I could make my own.

  61. Lauren- Old Red Boots May 5, 2014 at 7:56 am #

Oh wow.. I would make a bunch of catsuits/bodysuits!

  62. Mel May 5, 2014 at 7:56 am #

I’ve sewn a bit with knits but never a dress for myself, would love to try. thanks for the chance!

  63. Amy Clark May 5, 2014 at 7:56 am #

Most likely I’d sew a shit-ton of t-shirts, but what I really want to sew is underwear….

  64. Marie Bromage May 5, 2014 at 7:57 am #

Stretch lace ooh lingerie! Wow new boyfriend and I’m 52!

  65. Carolyn May 5, 2014 at 8:00 am #

    A swimsuit for sure!

  66. Breenah A May 5, 2014 at 8:00 am #

I have a knit dress from Old Navy that is ALMOST perfect. I’d love to sew up my own so I could make a few tweaks.

  67. uglybeat May 5, 2014 at 8:02 am #

Have you seen Gertie’s new one-piece swimsuit she just put out through Butterick? 50’s awesomeness!!!! That’s what I want to sew. All that ruching makes me a little scared (I’ve never done it), but excited to try it.

  68. bunny May 5, 2014 at 8:04 am #

I want to sew ALL THE KNITS! Especially some dresses and maybe even a swimsuit!

  69. teri dodds May 5, 2014 at 8:05 am #

I have been wanting to experiment with making underwear, too. I know I could use the section on decorative elastic!

  70. Hannah May 5, 2014 at 8:05 am #

I’d love to learn how to better sew knit tops, like the Renfrew from Sewaholic!

  71. thatswhatshecrafted May 5, 2014 at 8:05 am #

OMGEEE! I need, I want! 🙂 I would make sexy V-neck tshirts. gotta show off the ladies. Just being honest 🙂

  72. Lowana May 5, 2014 at 8:06 am #

    I’d love so sew wrap-dresses 😀

  73. Erika A May 5, 2014 at 8:10 am #

The bombshell suit is on my to-sew list for the summer… hopefully before the end of summer. I already have the fabric!

  74. Amanda Renea May 5, 2014 at 8:10 am #

Someday I will sew a swimsuit!

  75. Eleanor May 5, 2014 at 8:14 am #

I’d make myself lots of fitted tops, they look great with wide swishy skirts!

  76. Jane May 5, 2014 at 8:14 am #

I’d like to master the art of making knickers, I tried once about a year ago and it was a total disaster! Hopefully the ‘adding elastic’ section will put me back on the straight and narrow! Thanks for the opportunity. x

  77. alexandra massey (@alliemass) May 5, 2014 at 8:15 am #

i bought the moneta pattern… now i just have to sew it!

  78. Yana May 5, 2014 at 8:15 am #

I would really love to make a dress 🙂

  79. Diana May 5, 2014 at 8:20 am #

My biggest reasons for sewing knits are mostly unselfish — I want to be able to make my hubby t-shirts and those Comox trunks from Thread Theory. I may or may not have a few Breton tops and Ohh Lulu undies on my radar as well…!

  80. Julie May 5, 2014 at 8:21 am #

I feel like I never have enough dresses, so that’s definitely what I’d choose to make 🙂

  81. roberta May 5, 2014 at 8:22 am #

Hi, I’ve just printed moneta….. I’m waiting to sew it!!!

  82. Linn May 5, 2014 at 8:22 am #

I have never sewn knits before but would love to make a retro swimsuit, as I can’t seem to find them here in Norway. Love your blog btw, I want to turn my loftspace into a sewing room like you have.

  83. @heather_kaye May 5, 2014 at 8:23 am #

I’m working on my own Moneta right now – and plan to make about three more before summer gets here officially! Of course, I also have a shirt to finish and a beautiful silk jersey slip…sigh. So much to sew, so scared to cut.

  84. Natalie May 5, 2014 at 8:25 am #

ooh i would really love to learn to sew knits! I’ve only ever sewn stable fabrics, knits have always intimidated me. I would love to learn to sew the lady skater dress, i have the pattern but no idea where to start!

the most worn and favourite dresses in my wardrobe are knit dresses, would love to add to them!

  85. Lea May 5, 2014 at 8:25 am #

I’d definitely sew some dresses. They’re my favorite thing to wear in the summer.

  86. piggyandbear May 5, 2014 at 8:28 am #

    Definitely a dress!

  87. melissaspooner22@gmail.com May 5, 2014 at 8:32 am #

I would be pretty pleased with myself if I managed a dress on a serger

  88. askouras May 5, 2014 at 8:33 am #

I’m only just getting into knits, but one of these days, I definitely want to start sewing my own underwear and a swimsuit (I just need to find a pattern….)

  89. Sandra Woerner May 5, 2014 at 8:33 am #

My goal is to alter my bathing suits I purchased last summer when I was 30 pounds heavier! (Yea). I have to admit, I’m scared to death to attempt, but they were new and I’m not about to buy another one when I have all that fabric to work with.
    Sandy

  90. Nadja May 5, 2014 at 8:34 am #

I’ve recently bought some lightweight jersey to sew a few Moneta dresses. Also my serger just broke and I’d love some tips to sew knits on my regular machine.

  91. Angela May 5, 2014 at 8:35 am #

Please do NOT put me in the drawing, I already have the book and love it! Someone will be very happy to receive it.

  92. Trinity May 5, 2014 at 8:35 am #

I would love to see a peach colored retro one piece for summer!!!

  93. knitmo May 5, 2014 at 8:37 am #

I have a lot of knits on my to-sew list for this summer (if it ever comes) including the popular plain white t-shirts (renfrew) and and a dress or two!

  94. Anna May 5, 2014 at 8:38 am #

I love sewing with knits too and have just got an overlocker :). I’m going to try sewing a swimming costume this summer and think the book would be very useful in getting to know my new machine! Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  95. Angela May 5, 2014 at 8:41 am #

Basically everything I normally buy and wear. No more RTW ill fitting nonsense .

  96. Teresa May 5, 2014 at 8:41 am #

I too stopped making underwear after a few pairs and…I kind of need them so I’ve gotta tackle that next!

  97. Ellen May 5, 2014 at 8:42 am #

I love sewing with knits especially underware, t-shirts and dresses. At the moment I’m working on 2 dresses, a swimsuit, 3 undies and a hoodie. However I don’t know a lot about the different kind of knits or how they are made and it looks like there are a lot of great sewing tips. I think this book is just what I need to improve my sewing skills.

  98. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 8:44 am #

Still scared! Is using the overlock stitch on my sewing machine being a bit woosie? Should I break out the credit card and buy a real machine? I need the book big time.

  99. Jackie May 5, 2014 at 8:47 am #

I would like to make T shirts that don’t have boob flaps.

  100. Nadine May 5, 2014 at 8:49 am #

I feel like the Internet has been daring me to try sewing with knits lately 🙂 I’d be up for trying my hand at the Moneta dress. Looks like the kind of cute dress I could live in.

  101. Julie May 5, 2014 at 8:51 am #

I want to make everything in knit… seriously! Don’t think I’m not totally trying to get away with a knit wedding dress -jury’s still out, but here’s hoping!

  102. Erica May 5, 2014 at 8:56 am #

If I could sew with knits i’d sew it all.. tees, dresses, etc. etc. etc.!! 🙂

  103. Liz May 5, 2014 at 8:58 am #

I would like to make some cardigans to wear to work. I am always cold! I would also like to make some tshirts, as I went through a closet clean-up this weekend, and realized I own ZERO t-shirts. Having these two items would make everything else I own a lot more versatile. I apparently shop and sew as though I am going to parties and fancy events every day……

  104. Katherine May 5, 2014 at 8:59 am #

I’ve sewn with knits a bit, so it would be great to learn a bit more about the tricks of working with different types of knits. and de-mystify sergers, which kinda scare me

  105. hollylewis May 5, 2014 at 9:00 am #

As boring as it sounds, I would love to sew up some more t-shirts. I wear them all the time, but it would be fun to have some cute embellished t-shirts!

  106. Sara May 5, 2014 at 9:03 am #

I would love to sew t-shirts in all colours but also a knit blouse. Thank you for this amazing giveaway!

  107. Andie L. May 5, 2014 at 9:04 am #

Dresses. I always make dresses. It’s all I wear! 🙂

  108. Mary N. May 5, 2014 at 9:06 am #

A new swimsuit is the most immediate and tricky thing on my knit list.

  109. Angelica May 5, 2014 at 9:07 am #

I would like to conquer sewing undies for myself and by boyfriend. The comox trunks from thread theory are seriously sexy and they are the perfect excuse to have a half-naked boyfriend close at hand (he needs to try on a “muslin”, you know!). Also, undies are small, quick projects that are perfect for getting some experience with my coverstitch machine 😀

  110. Dawn May 5, 2014 at 9:07 am #

I would really like to perfect my underwear-making skills. I’ve tried two pair so far, but I’ve clearly got some improvement to make. Hoping to try a swimsuit soon as well.

  111. Tina May 5, 2014 at 9:09 am #

I would like to make a swimsuit, it was one of my plans last year. I already bought a fabric, made my own pattern, but it ended up in a bin… so, I think, this book could help me ,)

  112. Fooniks May 5, 2014 at 9:10 am #

I would love to learn how to make swimwear and undergarments. Those are things i haven’t learned(yet) and really-really want to.

  113. Myriam G May 5, 2014 at 9:10 am #

I just finished sewing my very first knit top on my regular ole sewing machine and it was way easier than expected. I’d like to make a maxi dress next.

  114. Kat May 5, 2014 at 9:10 am #

I would love to sew a knit dress and a tshirt.

  115. Neroli May 5, 2014 at 9:10 am #

I would like to try my hand at lingerie and maybe even a swimsuit. This looks like a great book

  116. Mary May 5, 2014 at 9:11 am #

    A new dress for me!

  117. Barbi May 5, 2014 at 9:12 am #

I want to make a pile of knit sun dresses for myself and my daughter. I’m skeeered of knits! If I don’t win, you betcha I’ll be buying this book!

  118. Evie May 5, 2014 at 9:13 am #

    Dear Lauren

Firstly, love your blog! I may or may not haunt your site religiously for all my sewing questions! And what a great giveaway this is!

As for the knits, this book needs to be in my life! I just made the Moneta and I was so proud of how it turned out, that I am now addicted to knits. The next knit I plan to make (other than another Moneta) is a very scary looking vogue pattern that I bought ages ago but have been, up until now, too scared to make. Oh, and I am making my mum a Lola for Mother’s Day! (Her choice, after seeing the one I made for myself this week. SO snuggly in the colder weather we are experiencing in Australia atm).

    All the best,
    Evie

  119. Lexie Little May 5, 2014 at 9:13 am #

I’ve been dying to tackle making a swimsuit. Gertie’s new swimsuit pattern is adorable, and who doesn’t love the popular Bombshell suit.

I’ve had my grandmother’s serger just sitting there not being used as I haven’t touched a serger in 14 years. Sounds like this book could rectify that.

  120. Kelly May 5, 2014 at 9:20 am #

I’d love to enter! I need to get that book one way or another 🙂 I had a few knit disasters that scared me away from knits, but recently tried again have found success with the Renfrew and Cation tops. I still have a long way to go, but for the first time I feel like I can actually succeed with knits, and I want to make EVERYTHING! It really feels like a new, comfy, practical world has opened up to me!

  121. Emma Jayne May 5, 2014 at 9:24 am #

There’s not much woven in my sewing queue. Knit garments include another Pavlova wrap, two bikinis, a Nettie body or six, a Nettie dress and gym leggings.

  122. Sandy May 5, 2014 at 9:26 am #

I’d love to sew a swimsuit!

  123. Hannah May 5, 2014 at 9:28 am #

I would make a bunch of knit tops–I wear those a lot, and I’d love to be able to choose my own fabrics for them!

  124. Gina Lincoln May 5, 2014 at 9:30 am #

I actually made my first venture this past weekend with knit. I was a little nervous but having now lost my knit virginity I cant wait to start another project! Thinking a swimsuit is in order soon!

  125. Luda May 5, 2014 at 9:30 am #

I made some knit items including giant socks to cover my daughter’s cast post bunion surgery. I am about to finish a dress based on Sew U book pattern. My short term goal is to finally sew up the Bombshell which I bought a year ago when it first came out. And long term I would like to build a wearable knit wardrobe for me and my daughter starting with tank tops and basic t-shirts.

  126. Amy May 5, 2014 at 9:32 am #

Well I’d love to make the DVF wrap dress you made but seeing as how the pattern online is a little pricey that may take a while 🙂 I’ve made a few Renfrews but want to try some other shirt patterns and a knit pencil skirt. I plan to sew with a bigger variety of knits this year like wool jersey and silk knits.

  127. Lisa D. May 5, 2014 at 9:35 am #

I’d love to make t-shirts/tank tops that actually fit me. [I have a long torso.] Thanks to you and Sarai for the give-away!

  128. Caroline May 5, 2014 at 9:35 am #

I’d basically like to sew a successful knit of any kind. My attempts, though improving, show I have LOTS to learn!

  129. alliedpassagetranslations May 5, 2014 at 9:37 am #

I’d love to be able to knit that Bombshell swimsuit pattern one of these days!

  130. Chantal May 5, 2014 at 9:38 am #

A swimsuit is definitely my main knitwear goal this summer, but t-shirts, hoodies, and underwear are important basics too. I could really use this book! Thanks for the giveaway!

  131. Victoria May 5, 2014 at 9:39 am #

I have never made an item of clothing with a knit fabric before as I’m a little nervous. I’ve just found my sewing mojo after a lot of years away, and im just feeling my way into creating a new wardrobe. I want to make a few item, but first on the list would be a dress then maybe a casual jacket.

  132. meredith beau May 5, 2014 at 9:41 am #

I would like to sew some drapey t-shirts

  133. A Sunny Day in LA May 5, 2014 at 9:42 am #

I’d really like to make a slouchy shirt, I don’t have nearly enough of those in my closet.

  134. Paloma May 5, 2014 at 9:42 am #

I have been wanting to sew a comfy nightgown and would love to know how to add lace!

  135. JenNY May 5, 2014 at 9:43 am #

Coincidentally, I just recently added several knits to my stash. Really need to replenish my casual summer wardrobe. I’m thinking about shift dresses, tanks, and bodysuits. Particularly tempted by the recent appearance of the Nettie bodysuit…
    ~Jen

  136. Amy May 5, 2014 at 9:44 am #

I’m going to be totally boring and whip up a load of tops…. Then maybe some dresses too 🙂

  137. Elizabeth McAlister May 5, 2014 at 9:46 am #

I’d love to sew the two new Collette patterns for knits with the extended size range. The new dress looks comfortable for Georgia’s hot summers, and the pencil skirt might work in knits for me. Having tried to get out of a jeep in a woven pencil skirt, I vowed never again, but a knit might work.

  138. Melanie May 5, 2014 at 9:47 am #

I’d probably get started on a lady skater dress! I love all the pictures in this book, it makes things so much clearer.

  139. Katie May 5, 2014 at 9:50 am #

I would love the try making some shirts since all the ones I love seem to be made of knit fabric. I’d also like to try undies.

  140. Angelica May 5, 2014 at 9:52 am #

I have yet to sew with any knits. But, I’d love to whip up some undies or comfy summer pajamas.

  141. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 9:53 am #

I’ve made some knit stuff – even a couple things that I love, but I have such a hard time doing a good, professional looking job finishing t-shirts and it pains me to wear things that look homemade. i’d love this reference to learn to do a better job

  142. Cris A. May 5, 2014 at 9:54 am #

    Dresses and T-Shirts!

  143. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 9:59 am #

More clothes for baby Fuzzle. I’ve got to dress my kid in the clothes I like for as long as I can. She will start asserting her own style before I know it.

    • Leslie May 5, 2014 at 10:02 am #

Let’s try that again. Touch screens and babies are not a great combination.

More clothes for baby Fuzzle. I’ve got to dress my kid in the clothes I like for as long as I can. She will start asserting her own style before I know it.

  144. Ali May 5, 2014 at 10:01 am #

I’ve had a few goes, and they haven’t been hugely successful so this book looks great, I would really like to copy my favourite top which has sadly been washed too many times and I can’t replace it in the shops.

  145. Aubrey May 5, 2014 at 10:05 am #

Please, can I have this? It’s use it to make knit tops. I’m irrationally scared of knits and zippers.

  146. julie d. May 5, 2014 at 10:08 am #

i haven’t yet taken the plunge into the world of sewing knits, but i would love to sew either the new colette moneta dress, or the lady skater!

  147. Linda Oldham Burns May 5, 2014 at 10:09 am #

I would make some dresses!! I have several patterns ready to go!!

  148. Kristin May 5, 2014 at 10:13 am #

This book looks fantastic! I love sewing with knits.

  149. Show and Tell Meg May 5, 2014 at 10:14 am #

I bought the Parisian Top pattern from Pattern Anthology and I’d love to know how to really make it the right way 🙂 Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  150. Angie Knutson May 5, 2014 at 10:15 am #

I just bought an ITY jersey knit to learn to make undies. This book would be so awesome for this project (and so many more!)

  151. KerryL May 5, 2014 at 10:18 am #

I would love to make a maxi dress and some t-shirts!

  152. mertxelasierra May 5, 2014 at 10:18 am #

Hi there! Your passion is my passion! I’ve always loved to sew knits, for the same reasons, more confortable to wear, easier to fit, and more modern. And I also find them easier to sew than non-stretch fabrics. But I certainly could use this book, since my knowledge on sewing knits is just common sense and my own experiments!

  153. Liz May 5, 2014 at 10:19 am #

Basic shirtsfor sure! And allll the other stuff, including undies!

  154. Jess May 5, 2014 at 10:19 am #

I’ve never done any kind of sewing with knits, but starting out with some shirts and dresses would be fun!

  155. Anneh May 5, 2014 at 10:22 am #

    T-shirts and tops!

  156. Thami May 5, 2014 at 10:22 am #

Oooh, I’ve been itchin’ to get my hands on a copy of this book, so thanks for the giveaway! I definitely would love to learn more about finishing knits as I have only made a few basic knit garments.

  157. Shelley May 5, 2014 at 10:27 am #

A lady skater in some some teal knit bought from a show – but I’m scared. Can’t muslin it with old sheets so I just need to go for it. I have only made a self drafted maxi skirt and a dressing gown for a mouse in jersey before. The book looks fab, will be adding it tommy wish list.

  158. Helen May 5, 2014 at 10:28 am #

I’d love to make all the knits! Skirts, tees and dresses! I have made a few knit tees recently but definitely would love to learn so much more!

  159. krista May 5, 2014 at 10:31 am #

I would love to make a skirt!

  160. Zane May 5, 2014 at 10:33 am #

I’d love to make some vaguely japanesy tshirts for me (burda pattern). Generally, I’d be interested in all of them!

  161. sweetalchemy May 5, 2014 at 10:34 am #

I’ve made quite a few things with knits–pjs, leggings, tees, underwear. I think making a swimsuit is my next big knit challenge!

  162. Erin May 5, 2014 at 10:38 am #

I am hoping to make various style Nettie tops and the dress and also want to make some knit skirts. Would love this book! I have a stash of knits and when I tried to sew them before, the thread bunched up and I quit trying. . . now I’m ready!
    Erin

  163. Kim Haber May 5, 2014 at 10:38 am #

I want to make a dress. I have the fabric that I bought at Mood last summer during a visit to NYC.

  164. Elena Knits May 5, 2014 at 10:41 am #

Thank you for the giveaway. I’d love to make lots of dresses and a bikini 🙂

  165. Jenni May 5, 2014 at 10:42 am #

This looks like a great resource for someone who’s never touched knits before (a.k.a., me!), so thanks for the thorough review. I’ll definitely be picking up a copy soon. I would love to sew a ton of fun underwear, and eventually I want to branch out into T-shirts too.

  166. Margo May 5, 2014 at 10:43 am #

I’ve made t-shirts and dresses from knits (and undies too), and next I would love to make a swimsuit! Maybe from Gertie’s new pattern!

  167. eggrah01 May 5, 2014 at 10:45 am #

I would really love to start making my own t-shirts and other knit basics. I wear them all the time, but I’ve never really had the nerve to try making them myself. This book looks like a great resource!

  168. Judy May 5, 2014 at 10:47 am #

After a successful Renfrew I’d like to try a wrap dress, and I’d love to have a go with some silk jersey.

  169. Flor de Lima May 5, 2014 at 10:51 am #

I would love to be able to do a swimsuit for myself!

  170. craftylittlebugger May 5, 2014 at 10:54 am #

I’m still so tentative with knits. Our relationship is rather hit and miss. I’d love to make up Heather Lou’s Bombshell swimsuit this summer though. Fingers crossed I can win and get a hand-holding!

  171. Forrest May 5, 2014 at 10:54 am #

I would love to make a swimsuit!

  172. Hanne May 5, 2014 at 10:56 am #

I’d love to make myself a maxi dress and some flattering hight waisted panties (high waisted anything is the best 🙂 )
The chapter on finishing techniques looks really good! Thanks for the giveaway!

  173. Elly Pepperell May 5, 2014 at 11:00 am #

My goal is to sew knits without getting a bit panicky… I’d love to make a lady skater, sew over it wrap dress and a maxi skirt. Have some lovely knits in my stash but just to chicken to take the plunge! Bwoook

  174. Clothilde May 5, 2014 at 11:00 am #

I’d love to try the Nettie bodysuit in a fancy knit fabric! 🙂

  175. Ann May 5, 2014 at 11:03 am #

I am dying to sew up a red knit dress and matching panties! Scandalous!

  176. Michele May 5, 2014 at 11:05 am #

I haven’t sewn with knits yet but I am dying to give it a try. Perhaps a wrap skirt would be a good start!

  177. Jodie May 5, 2014 at 11:07 am #

I want to make all the things!! Swimsuit, dress, leggings!!! Would love a chance to win.

  178. Jowyn Jenson May 5, 2014 at 11:07 am #

I’d love to make a long sleeved fitted tee for mee. 🙂

  179. Kimberley c May 5, 2014 at 11:12 am #

I really need to sew up a whole maternity wardrobe for my current (not currant) bun in the oven. Knit is my friend!

  180. thegirlinthecrystalcar May 5, 2014 at 11:14 am #

A few years ago, I tried to refashion an old T-Shirt to fit me, but I never really understood the “thing” with knits and never tried it again… But, I would love to learn more about it and how to use it.

Have you seen Gertie’s new swimsuit pattern? Here’s the link just in case: http://butterick.mccall.com/b6067-products-48586.php?page_id=4453

Now, that’s something I’d like to sew up in a knit! 🙂

  181. Philippa May 5, 2014 at 11:17 am #

Please would you enter me for the knit book? I already sew knits on my overlocker but really want to read more about neat elastic finishes for vests and knickers. So I guess my knit goal is mostly undies! My email is phillylincoln@gmail.com. Thank you!

  182. Clara (@penpaperwords) May 5, 2014 at 11:18 am #

I would totally sew some boring knit t-shirts! The current fashions just don’t suit me; they’re all high-necked, loose things with pretty collars and no sleeves, whilst I’m definitely more of a low-cut, short sleeve, fitted top person – it’s very frustrating!

  183. annaintechnicolor May 5, 2014 at 11:18 am #

I definitely would love to make another Moneta dress. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway!

  184. Nina May 5, 2014 at 11:18 am #

I would love to make some maxi dresses and basic t-shirts for this summer since I am pregnant, and maternity clothes are WAY too expensive! I can never seem to finish my necklines properly, they always look wonky. Help with that would be fab. 🙂

  185. Danica May 5, 2014 at 11:18 am #

Thank you for offering the giveaway! I’m not afraid of knits, but have trouble selecting fabric and also am disastrous with hemming. I would love to make some kimono sleeve t-shirts, long and short sleeve, as well as dresses. I love knits.

  186. Daniela M. May 5, 2014 at 11:20 am #

Thanks for sharing some of the content of the book with us! I’ve made a few lady skaters already, but my finishes are only very basic. So I would love to learn this as well. Next on my list are the new dress and skirt patterns from Colette!

  187. Rachel May 5, 2014 at 11:21 am #

After winning a Nettie just yesterday, winning another giveaway seems too good to be true, but I’m planning for my next knit project to be a printed short sleeve Nettie 🙂
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  188. TinaLou May 5, 2014 at 11:21 am #

I need a wardrobe of knit tops; something elevated just a tad above the basic tee. Spring and Summer now, Fall and WInter later. Oh, and cardis for layering!

  189. Angela May 5, 2014 at 11:25 am #

Like you, I have a bit of experience working with knits. But I am always on the lookout for tip to make my sewing easier and neater. FOE is the bane of my existence!!! I’d love to try making some cute panties. Preferably from a microfiber, in my shade of nude. And a body slip (a microfiber and power mesh combo) to provide a smooth fit beneath my knit dresses. This is a great giveaway and if I don’t win, I’ll be ordering the book anyway.

  190. Abby May 5, 2014 at 11:27 am #

A new wrap top! My old one is literally falling apart, and I want to copy it and make two new ones. 🙂

  191. Another Mary May 5, 2014 at 11:32 am #

I am SO SO EXCITED to try my hand at a Moneta dress. My goal is to make a million breezy knit sundresses to wear chasing after my small nieces at the beach this summer.

  192. Heather May 5, 2014 at 11:38 am #

I desperately want to make a Moneta, just waiting yo get my hands on the pattern.

  193. Alice May 5, 2014 at 11:39 am #

I have on my sewing list a white gathered maxi dress. It was originally a shirt pattern, but I’m going to make it floor length and in white for the drama!

  194. Heather Bringetto May 5, 2014 at 11:41 am #

I love knit skirts, so easy to wear.

  195. Tiffany May 5, 2014 at 11:41 am #

I’ve always been super scared to sew with knits, but if I had this book, I would be willing to take the plunge! I would love to make some comfy knit dresses, a swimsuit, and maybe even some workout wear…

  196. Sarah AJ May 5, 2014 at 11:42 am #

I sew with knits quite a bit, but I haven’t tackled a swimsuit yet. That’s on my list for this year.

  197. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 11:48 am #

Swimsuit is very challenging to sew, I would want to achieve it.

  198. Ines May 5, 2014 at 11:50 am #

Hi, definitely T-shirts , I wear a lot of them and it would be great to make a large selection myself!

  199. Maria Rydqvist May 5, 2014 at 11:50 am #

Love to learn! I want to make my own T-shirts with prints. Like retired Supreme Court judge Sandra Day O’Connor: I’m not bossy. I just have better ideas
    🙂

  200. Karen May 5, 2014 at 11:51 am #

I’ll admit it, the thought of sewing with knits terrifies me! Would love to learn more and gain some confidence to dig in and try sewing with knits. My goal would be to be able to get enough skills to make a lady skater dress, I drool all over this pattern every time I see another blog version… 🙂

  201. Megan Medsker May 5, 2014 at 11:55 am #

I want to see lingerie! The series over at sewahloic has inspired me, but knits still scare me, even though I’ve tried them.

  202. Curry Made May 5, 2014 at 12:01 pm #

I’d love to make a dress for the summer but my absolute, ultimate goal would be to make comfortable and pretty underthings in knit fabric!!

  203. Cari May 5, 2014 at 12:02 pm #

I would LOVE to try more tops. I’ve had such a bad time trying to get the right fit in non-stretchy fabrics, knit sounds like my best option for a successful shirt!

  204. docksjo May 5, 2014 at 12:04 pm #

I dreaming about handmade active wear, undies and swimsuits. As soon as I have a little more time for anything but school work this is what I’m going to make, but I’d love a few tips and trix it seem like an amazing book.

  206. Ruth May 5, 2014 at 12:09 pm #

My aim for this year was to try to conquer my fear of sewing knits – I’m not doing too well so far so maybe this book would help! I’d particularly love to make some knit dresses because I wear my RTW ones all the time. Thanks for the great review and giveaway!

  207. lisa d May 5, 2014 at 12:12 pm #

i would love to make the perfect easy-to-wear-goes-with-everything dress knit dress. the one that you can travel in, or dress up for a date, or throw over a swimsuit. the GO-TO dress for all occasions 🙂 I bought one in a sample sale in NY years ago but it’s getting a little tired recently, so i would love to make a replacement!

  208. All Set May 5, 2014 at 12:22 pm #

I love knits… Mostly dresses, for my lottle girls or just for me!

  209. Kristina May 5, 2014 at 12:25 pm #

I love knit tees and maxi skirts. My goal this year is to practice sewing knit basics.

  210. Felicia May 5, 2014 at 12:26 pm #

I’d love to win! I want to create the perfect everyday-dress – that’s tight and fitted on the bodice and has a nice flare on the skirt! Comfortable and pretty!! 🙂

  211. quiver May 5, 2014 at 12:30 pm #

In RTW I have seen some interesting combinations of knit and woven, such as a shirt with a knit back and a woven front. I feel it adds ease of wear (and fit!) to an item with woven detail. I would like to try something like that. Mostly thinking about making tops, dresses. I might get adventurous and try pants. I’ve made baby gifts from knits (hat, sleeping bag)

  212. Jeanne S May 5, 2014 at 12:32 pm #

I would love to experiment with making my own underwear, it would be the perfect way to use up knit scraps! I’m sure this book would be such a wonderful tool to add to my sewing library.

  213. Jen B May 5, 2014 at 12:35 pm #

I would love to eventually make a swimsuit, but learning to use my serger would be my first task!

  214. Beth May 5, 2014 at 12:37 pm #

I’m new to sewing period but someday I’d love to make a whole collection of basic t-shirts. I love to be comfy!

  215. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 12:39 pm #

I am new to knits, but would love to make a bombshell swim suit and a coco, of course !

  216. Anonymous May 5, 2014 at 12:41 pm #

A bombshell and a coco!! Love knits !

  217. v May 5, 2014 at 12:42 pm #

a nettie, a maxi dress, black t shirts.

  218. sarah May 5, 2014 at 12:44 pm #

I am actually getting ready to start a Moneta!

  219. Gina May 5, 2014 at 12:45 pm #

I love knits – I remember being amazed at how easy the fitting process was with my first knit garment. Knits are so forgiving! I feel pretty comfortable with knits so I haven’t been thinking about buying the Colette book, but the pages you posted look like things I would like to incorporate into my knit repertoire, so it would be cool to have a copy. My final frontier with knits is swimwear. I’ve altered swimsuits but I’d really like to make my own from scratch.

  220. Becky May 5, 2014 at 12:48 pm #

After 4 Renfrews I’m hooked on knits. Time for a dress!

  221. Aline May 5, 2014 at 12:50 pm #

I’m totally into knit dresses, for both myself and my girls. You can’t have enough of those. The finishing section of the book does look very promising, I love a clean finish, I might actually try some underwear as well…

  222. cryincrawdaddy May 5, 2014 at 12:55 pm #

Hi Lauren, I want to make bathing suits ever so badly. Thank you!

  223. Feminizzle May 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm #

I haven’t sewn with knits for a couple of years and I could do with a good guide to jump back in! There are a couple of knit dress patterns in my collection that I’ve been waiting to try out and this would be a great excuse to bust them out!

  224. estelmach May 5, 2014 at 1:01 pm #

I would love to tackle the Colette Moneta! It looks like a great go to dress, I want to make one in every color! This book would most certainly help 🙂

  225. mysteries1984 May 5, 2014 at 1:04 pm #

A skirt, full circle style 🙂

  226. Jessica May 5, 2014 at 1:06 pm #

I would make some work-appropriate dresses. How boring, eh? Much more boring than, say, scratching one’s head the night before a conference, trying to figure out how to look formal enough without veering into 1) stuffy and 2) young (I already look young, I need my clothes to not give off the College Intern vibe!) But knit dress + blazer/little jacket seems to be the uniform of choice up here …

  227. Chris May 5, 2014 at 1:10 pm #

I would make tee shirts, wrap dresses and leggings galore! BTW your blog is the funniest!

  228. Heather x May 5, 2014 at 1:13 pm #

Hi hunny 🙂 I would love a chance to win this awesome book…I discovered sewing recently and sewed my first knit dress a couple of weeks ago…now I am hooked on knits. My ultimate goal is to sew body shapers (undergarments) to hold in the middle aged spread 🙂

    Heather x

  229. Sam May 5, 2014 at 1:15 pm #

Undies. I really, really want to try them but lack the courage, which is silly because they’d use so little fabric – well, more than a little to get around my ample derriere but still, nothing that would break the bank.

    Sam

  230. Andrea May 5, 2014 at 1:17 pm #

Oh man, I wish I had known about this book earlier. I have had the most frustrating weekend trying to sew a dolman shirt from a jersey fabric. And this is exactly what I would try to do: finish the dolman shirt that has been thrown into a corner for now.

  231. Rose Jhony May 5, 2014 at 1:18 pm #

I am expecting and would love to make a few knit maxis for the summer time.

  232. Carol Carrier May 5, 2014 at 1:20 pm #

I’d love to start out with a tee but would quickly conquer all the wardrobe fillers I haven’t mastered yet

  233. Grace May 5, 2014 at 1:21 pm #

My next knit project is a Nettie Body suit, and after that I’ll probably sew up a bathing suit, I’d love to have this book in my library as I could definitely use a knit specific sewing reference book.

  234. Lesley May 5, 2014 at 1:21 pm #

I’m planning on making some more t-shirts, undies, and I’d like to make a swim suit someday. I’m planning on buying a serger soon, so I’m hoping to be able to make my knits look a little more RTW and be a bit more durable.

  235. essian May 5, 2014 at 1:24 pm #

I’m hoping to make lots of merino clothes for the nz winter…tshirts, hoodies, wrap dress and leggings. Just need to summon the courage to start!

  236. Tanya May 5, 2014 at 1:33 pm #

I just bought the Bombshell swimsuit pattern and my almost-4-year-old lives in knits, so my future knit sewing plans amount to 1 for me dozens for her. Thanks for the opportunity.

  237. linynp May 5, 2014 at 1:36 pm #

Oh ok so this book is going to be in MY library win it or not lol! (Hope to though!) Anyhow I’d like to make my seafarer and lady skater correctly this time lol!!!!!!!!! Using the correct knit will be a big bonus!

  238. Erin May 5, 2014 at 1:39 pm #

What a great giveaway! Honestly, I’d like to make boring white t-shirts, and red, and green, and stripes, and polka dots!

  239. botoncito May 5, 2014 at 1:41 pm #

I would like to make lots of nice and unique t-shirts, one for each day of the year, LOL

  240. Sarah May 5, 2014 at 1:41 pm #

I just bought the Bombshell swimsuit pattern but I’m still really hesitant after the last thing I made with knits (a Plantain shirt) was a pretty epic fail. I need the help!

  241. Emmie May 5, 2014 at 1:44 pm #

Wow thats a lot of comments! I want to sew wrap dresses! And Coppelia Cardigans!

  242. marybeezo May 5, 2014 at 1:45 pm #

i’d love to make nicer everyday t-shirts and tackle a wrap dress in ITY! Thanks for the opportunity!

  243. traeumvommeer May 5, 2014 at 1:47 pm #

I’ve been toying with the idea of making a maxi dress from a ribbed knitted fabric. It would have to be a bit flared at the bottom and have a key-hole in the upper back so I can still wear a bra, but have the nice effect anyways 🙂 So far, I haven’t started on it, and I’d love to have the book to guide me!

  244. Lisa S May 5, 2014 at 1:47 pm #

I’m dying to sew the Bombshell swimsuit; I’ve had the pattern since it came out but am a bit intimidated to sew it. I’m sure this book will help boost my confidence!!

  245. Lisa Adcock May 5, 2014 at 1:48 pm #

Oooh, I would sew a cute dress or maybe some workout pants! Lo

  246. Alli May 5, 2014 at 1:48 pm #

I have a swimsuit on my to-do list… I’ve got the fabric and pattern, and just have to staaart! 😀

  247. tabicakes May 5, 2014 at 1:52 pm #

I have never sewn with knits, and would love to try. A dress would be the end goal. Thanks!

  248. Carrie May 5, 2014 at 1:52 pm #

I want to create some really nice dresses that will cross over into work wear

  249. Mikhaela from Polka Dot Overload blog May 5, 2014 at 1:52 pm #

oh, I want that book! Next up on my knit list is some leggings…

  250. lazylinchen May 5, 2014 at 1:54 pm #

Oooh, what a pretty book! What I will sew almost definitely is a stack of maternity shirts, as well as some maxi dresses. I definitely need them this summer!

  251. Anne Marie May 5, 2014 at 2:04 pm #

I’d LOVE to learn to tackle knits – they’re so practical! Not exactly sure where to start though…

  252. Beth B. May 5, 2014 at 2:05 pm #

I’m hoping to tackle a swimsuit this month!

  253. Meriwether May 5, 2014 at 2:10 pm #

I moved to France a few years ago and left my favorite ragged gray fitted hoodie back in the States – I’d love to make a new one!

  254. Annika May 5, 2014 at 2:12 pm #

I’ve never sewn with knits, but I really want to get started. I want to sew some everyday clothes…hoodies, t-shirts, sweaters.

  255. Virginia May 5, 2014 at 2:14 pm #

I want to be able to sew flattering knit dresses – I have fabric and patterns but terrified to jump in!

  256. Dee May 5, 2014 at 2:16 pm #

I defo need this book whether I win it here or not! I’ve been making a jersey Banksia for around 2 weeks now (I do have a 2 year old so sewing time is limited to 10 mins a day sometimes). I’ve had such trouble getting the tension right on my over locker – finally overcome that and my tshirt is gorgeous – the only thing I have to do is hem it and my sewing machine will not play nicely with my twin needle…I’m still testing scrap pieces as i do not dare try my tshirt yet for fear of ruining it at the last hurdle!!!

  257. French Seams May 5, 2014 at 2:17 pm #

I’ve made 3 Coco’s, a Hemlock and a Lady Skater (LOVE LOVE LOVE your stripey Lady Skater, that dress convinced me to buy the pattern). I find that I wear my own made stretch clothes SO much more than any of my other makes. I’m hoping to expand my stretch skills (I only have a regular machine), build a wearable wardrobe, make some stretch basics and definitely some more Lady Skaters.

  258. Cathy Fowler May 5, 2014 at 2:19 pm #

    In a word. Tshirts.

  259. Joanne May 5, 2014 at 2:23 pm #

I have yet to sew a successful (i.e. one I’d choose to wear for more than 10 minutes) pair of underwear. I will own them, though. Just picture me in the meantime plotting my attack.

  260. Birgit May 5, 2014 at 2:23 pm #

I’m dying to sew a maxi dress! And a few tops for wardrobe staples purposes 😉

  261. Denise May 5, 2014 at 2:24 pm #

I love making my own t-shirts, but I would LOVE to make them better 🙂

  262. Melissa S. May 5, 2014 at 2:25 pm #

I’ve never really sewn knits before (except for one time when I made a disaster of a dress), so my goal for this summer is to learn this skill to make comfy summer dresses. That’s pretty much all I wear in the summer, but I hate buying the cheap crappy RTW when I KNOW I could make them myself, I just don’t know how yet!

  263. Nicola May 5, 2014 at 2:27 pm #

Hi! I’d love to sew some awesome dresses which I keep seeing around the Web – that and perhaps just boring white t shirts to get to fully me-made status one day; ) Thanks!

  264. Vicky May 5, 2014 at 2:37 pm #

I tried making some cool T’shirts and leggings for myself with knits on my overlocker, only for the seams to come open on the first wear – lucky I was home at the time! Both items are in a to-be-fixed pile and gathering dust. In my dreams, I am a knits ninja, making all my favourite dress and top patterns in it for maximum comfort and effortless style. Instead, I haven’t graduated from basic cottons. Thanks for the great review, the book looks ideal for a hopeless knit-phobe like me x

  265. Valerie May 5, 2014 at 2:39 pm #

I’ll probably just make so many leggings, in obnoxious colours/prints. (Probably some t-shirts to wear with them too.)

  266. thefilling May 5, 2014 at 2:39 pm #

I would love to make just a boring old t-shirt! I think making your own basics adds just a little bit of polish not always present in RTW.

    Amazing giveaway!

  267. Lisa Marie May 5, 2014 at 2:42 pm #

I’m dying to make a Moneta! The section on finishing looks amazing! Hope I win!

  268. Jess B May 5, 2014 at 2:45 pm #

I am still too chicken to work with knits. Maybe I need to pick up a copy of this book to help change that!

  269. Vanessa Heron May 5, 2014 at 2:45 pm #

    T-shirts which actually fit!

  270. Charlotte Amaro May 5, 2014 at 2:51 pm #

I would love to sew with knit fabrics. I’ve never taken the plunge. Thanks for the chance to win.

  271. Jessica Caudron May 5, 2014 at 2:51 pm #

boring Tshirts in organic cotton, and then maybe that Lady Skater dress.

  272. surfjewels May 5, 2014 at 2:51 pm #

I tend to sew mainly woven cottons, but recently have tried a couple of knit items, a wrap dress and a top. They came out well and no need for the usual zips etc, so want to learn more, especially considering the fact that a lot of the other items in my wardrobe are knit ones.

    Hannah.
    surfjewels@hotmail.co.uk

  273. Rita May 5, 2014 at 2:52 pm #

Yay knits! I would make tshirts and basic tanks so I don’t have to buy them from Target, and thus my wardrobe would be 100% fast fashion free.

  274. Genevieve May 5, 2014 at 2:52 pm #

I just bought a serger and need to hone my skills…I’ve also bought sewaholic’s Renfrew pattern that I can wait to try…!

  275. Melwyk May 5, 2014 at 2:54 pm #

Honestly, every single section you’ve mentioned sounds amazing. I’m still a knits beginner, having hacked my way through most of my knitwear with some successes and some…not so much of a success. I’d really like to learn to make properly fitting leggings/tights though.

  276. Kami May 5, 2014 at 2:55 pm #

Currently working on a black version 2 of the Moneta pattern! Very excited for new basic knit patterns and to eventually getting my hands on this book.

  277. laurence00 May 5, 2014 at 2:56 pm #

I would love to sew a swimsuit 🙂

  278. Hot Mess MoreorLess (@HotMessMoL) May 5, 2014 at 2:56 pm #

I want to sew all of the things! But mostly, I want to be brave and sew a swimsuit.

  279. Elizabeth Amy Hajek May 5, 2014 at 2:57 pm #

I would love to be able to make swim suits.

  280. Molly May 5, 2014 at 3:00 pm #

I’d love to experiment with multi-look garments for a travel wardrobe (a la http://www.Encircled.ca ‘s Chysalis Cardi & Evolve top or American Apparel’s MultiWay Dress…) up until now I’ve never had the courage to work with knits, but I’d seriously like to try my hand at designing polyfunctional garments like these.

  281. Melissa C May 5, 2014 at 3:02 pm #

Ooh, how exciting!! I do love knits and probably never got the fear because I just started sewing with them before I knew any *better*, but I love me a good resource for my ever growing sewing book collection. My next knit hurdle: bathing suits.

  282. craftyalbumine May 5, 2014 at 3:04 pm #

I love sewing with knits. I do a lot of T-shirt and leggings but I would love to try a swimming suit. I just need a little bit more practice and some good hints and tips. II could definitely do with a book 🙂

  283. melissa May 5, 2014 at 3:04 pm #

Oh, I’ve just been starting to sew more knit tops and dresses. I just got a serger, so this would be great!

  284. ineedtocook May 5, 2014 at 3:05 pm #

I would love to attempt my first knit dress. I am a beginner but can’t wait to have a go with knits as I love Jersey dresses.

  285. Morven May 5, 2014 at 3:05 pm #

Next in line is actually the Moneta Dress by Colette, so this book would be perfect to accompany the sewing experience, but I’d also like to make a few slips, so, in general, the book would be very helpful to me

  286. Rachael Benton May 5, 2014 at 3:05 pm #

I want to make dresses for my daughter and myself. It’s the perfect season for comfy knit dresses!

  287. meagangracie May 5, 2014 at 3:06 pm #

    comfy pj’s!

  288. Meagan May 5, 2014 at 3:06 pm #

What don’t I want to sew in knits?! I’ve got some shirts and dresses under my belt, but there’s still so much to learn and do! Up next, though: sleeveless Moneta with a collar.

  289. Kelly May 5, 2014 at 3:06 pm #

I would love to try my hand at a knit onesie for a newborn!

  290. Melissa May 5, 2014 at 3:07 pm #

I definitely need some more comfy dresses. Oh, but a bathing suit would be amazing. Jegging style cigarette pants? I don’t know. Everything!

  291. quinn May 5, 2014 at 3:08 pm #

I love the comfort of knits, but I’m one of the people who is afraid her sewing machine – a Singer Featherweight inherited from my aunt – can’t handle knits. Can it? Can it really? If so, wow, I need this book! 🙂

  292. Darla in PA May 5, 2014 at 3:12 pm #

I love sewing with knits! I would most likely sew a comfy dress but t-shirts are easy and quick.

  293. Katerina May 5, 2014 at 3:12 pm #

    A dress and tops!

  294. Sarah May 5, 2014 at 3:16 pm #

Wrap dress all the way for me! I’d love the book, I’m the equivalent of the little robot (number five) in the movie Short Circuit, input, input, input! Would love to cast my little peepers over it!

  295. Amber Hunter May 5, 2014 at 3:17 pm #

I would love to make myself a swimsuit 🙂

  296. Barbora May 5, 2014 at 3:17 pm #

Pyjamas- I’m 27 weeks pregnant, at the start of our winter here and nothing fits! 🙂 help!

And then once I’m back to normal size: everything- including cute jumpsuits for the little girl 🙂

  303. Katy W May 5, 2014 at 3:25 pm #

This book looks amazing! I’ve been slowing getting better at sewing knits on my sewing machine, but I just picked up a serger from craigslist, and would love the help figuring out how to use it. Then I can finally make my dream swim suit!

  304. Shanni Snyder May 5, 2014 at 3:25 pm #

I just got a serger this weekend, woo hoo! I used one once in a class with help, but am a total newb and need this book 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win!

  307. leah May 5, 2014 at 3:31 pm #

I would love to sew cardigans. I’ve had my eye on some sweater knits and am looking forward to experimenting with sewing them. This book would really come in handy.

  308. jvenegas85 May 5, 2014 at 3:31 pm #

I would really like to make yoga clothing, dresses and flattering tanks. I know this book would help me so much in being more confident by learning tricks and accomplishing a successful knit wardrobe. This book would be an awesome tool to have.

  311. Dee May 5, 2014 at 3:39 pm #

    Sweaters and cardigans everyday!
I took up knitting in an effort to create vintage sweaters but knitting a sweater on size 2 needles is for the birds.
So I’m going back to my first love, sewing.

  312. jvenegas85 May 5, 2014 at 3:39 pm #

I would really love this book to help me get into sewing knits with more confidence. My goal is to make dresses, tanks and especially yoga clothing. It would be an awesome tool to have. If I win or when I purchase the book, I plan to share my experience working with knits and how this book was my inspiration. Thanks for the opportunity!

I hope to make enough running gear and tennis gear for the summer.

  314. social badger May 5, 2014 at 3:48 pm #

Knits are one of my last sewing frontiers. I want to make everything-so I can move away from boring store bought knits and into fantastic self made ones.

  315. Mary May 5, 2014 at 3:51 pm #

End goal: Grecian maxi dresses! I’m a long ways away, though.

  316. Jill May 5, 2014 at 3:52 pm #

I would love to learn how to use my over locker for more than just a basic stitch! But I’m looking forward to sewing my own gym gear! Particularly a pair of running tights that actually covers my bum and a swimming costume that gives me a little decency!!

  317. Fiona May 5, 2014 at 3:53 pm #

Winter is Coming Down Under, and I’d like to try making some snuggly tops and dresses out of all the gorgeous merino knits we have here in NZ! This book would be so helpful to me as I’ve not been very brave about sewing with knits before now.

  318. Hari May 5, 2014 at 3:58 pm #

I’ve been too scared to sew with knits as a beginner but I wear them half the time so I have to get over my fear if I want a me made wardrobe! I’d start with a lady skater dress and move onto underwear.

  319. madebydema May 5, 2014 at 3:59 pm #

I want to learn how to make underwear, i lost allready 31 kg and Will loose even more, so i really would like to make new bra’s and shortstory that fit

  322. Melina May 5, 2014 at 4:02 pm #

I love knit dresses, but I’m a bit terrified of sewing with anything stretchier than interlock. I bought the Moneta pattern immediately because it is seriously the perfect dress, but I have been too scared to cut up the fabric and get stitching.

  323. Jenniffer May 5, 2014 at 4:04 pm #

I would love to be able to do a dress for myself

  324. Laura May 5, 2014 at 4:06 pm #

Linda Lee just did a workshop here in Dallas, and I’m so STOKED on knits. I have a ton in ready to wear, and I can’t wait to (1) finish the garment I started sewing in class – An a-line knit T- shirt and (2) I just bought some AWESOME knit fabric to sew my 2nd Sewaholic Saltspring dress using knit fabrics.

I would love this book to add to my arsenal!

I love all things knit, but really want to make some lingerie or workout gear (I can’t decide which will come first!).

  333. Susanne May 5, 2014 at 4:25 pm #

I make baby leggings all the time for my baby and her baby buds, but I’d like to make a dress for myself. I have the Tiramisu pattern, and the Moneta looks great too…

  334. Eliza May 5, 2014 at 4:28 pm #

Oh,, please, please…I need this book so bad! Everything I want to make is knit and I break out in a cold sweat every time I think about sewing with knits. I have screwed up every knit project I have attempted and really, really, really want a Renfrew and Coco (sniffle). I even have a serger my honey bought for me and only used it once…epic fail!!

  335. Lucy May 5, 2014 at 4:30 pm #

    Wrap dresses ahoy!

Also, all the merino. We’re coming into winter now.

  336. Kathryn May 5, 2014 at 4:39 pm #

Tshirts all the way for me – Netties, plantains, Kirsten kimono tees, hemlock – I’d like to try them all!
Thanks for the great giveaway Lauren. I reference your post on sewing with knits all the time!

  337. Caro May 5, 2014 at 4:50 pm #

I’d like to sew knickers with smooth seams and elastic! Thanks for the giveaway Lauren

  338. mimiohs May 5, 2014 at 4:52 pm #

Well…where do I begin??? I have just moved into my new sewing studio and am in the process of transferring my fabric into the space. I have several wonderful knit fabrics just waiting to be turned into garments and this book would be a valuable resource in constructing and finishing these mystery garments off. What I have in mind are some capris pants and a top along with some cute cardi’s and other tops to be made from some Style Arc patterns. Your sneak peaks have left me wanting more!!! What a wonderful giveaway and I wish everyone good luck.

  339. monchatestmignon May 5, 2014 at 4:52 pm #

Ohhh!! I would love this book!! I have a little boy so for now boys clothes it’s what i’ve been making!! Thank you for this giveaway!!! 😊

  340. Colesworth May 5, 2014 at 4:54 pm #

Sew all the knits! I want to do tees and cardigans and dresses (maybe some leggings too)…..

  341. Rebekah May 5, 2014 at 5:06 pm #

I would love to be able to make structured knit dresses. The sort with decorative seaming details and a really formal look, all the while being comfy because they’re made from knit fabrics!
Also underwear, leggings and cardigans, and maybe pajamas too.

  342. Ryane LeCesne May 5, 2014 at 5:09 pm #

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE knits! I’ve sewn the Vogue DKNY 2091 pattern in pink, black, purple with an exposed kelly green 22′ zipper… burgundy, navy (it was too short). Having a serger is a game changer. If knits are a love, the $200 investment for the machine is well worth the sting – I promise! I also love both your blog and the Colette blog. I’ve made the Colette Laurel dress and blouse. Very simple lines, tons of options. I have also made an awesome pair of black and white hounds tooth leggings out of a very stretchy lycra knit – SUPER hot mama leggings! Let’s see, I think I am going to make a tee shirt dress next. I have read good things about the Tilly and the Button Coco pattern!!

  343. Nerissa May 5, 2014 at 5:10 pm #

I bought fabric and notions for a knit dress that I’m scared to cut into.

  344. Shannon D. May 5, 2014 at 5:10 pm #

Raglan t-shirts out of interesting printed knits.

  345. Liz H. May 5, 2014 at 5:17 pm #

I would love to sew up some cute knit shift dresses for summer! This book looks great!

  346. Jodie May 5, 2014 at 5:20 pm #

Oh my goodness! YES!!! I would sew shirts… A metric crapload of shirts!
And a bombshell swimsuit, and a dress or two, and more of them shirts!

  347. Kerri-Ann Gray May 5, 2014 at 5:20 pm #

I have a pile of stretch fabrics in my stash but I’ve been too scared to sew with them. I’d love to make some striped boat-neck tops, some leggings and a few stretch mini skirts.

  348. Jeni May 5, 2014 at 5:24 pm #

My biggest sewing goal is a swimsuit, as I love the retro designs but do not love the price tag associated with them. My more immediate knit sewing goal, however, is just to sew up a swarm of knit cardigans, camisoles, and t-shirts, as they’re what I wear most often anyway!

  349. Joey Hendricks May 5, 2014 at 5:25 pm #

love knits! I want to sew all the things! Starting with a sexy plus size dress

  350. sandi May 5, 2014 at 5:30 pm #

I’d love to sew some t-shirts for my husband and son, maybe some geeky matching ones for all of us ! Just too scared, what about all that ribbing on the neckline? EEK

  351. LydiaR May 5, 2014 at 5:30 pm #

I’d love to sew a knit dress that actually suited me.

  352. onedabbles May 5, 2014 at 5:32 pm #

Boring white T-shirts! And, perhaps, just for variety, a black one? There would be nothing better than being able to whip up a great, well-fitting T-shirt with the perfect round (but not too scooped) neckline and vary the sleeve length to suit me. Salivating at the prospect.

  353. loveshack-crafts.typepad.com May 5, 2014 at 5:35 pm #

I love knits, but the finishing is what gives me pause. I’ve had some hits and misses with hems. Thanks for the giveaway!

  354. Rebecca May 5, 2014 at 5:39 pm #

I want to sew a business suit in knit so I can be comfy all day….nevermind how ridiculous I’d look!

  355. Nadia Lewis May 5, 2014 at 5:41 pm #

I would totes sew up some undie-roos! 😀

  356. VictoriaR May 5, 2014 at 5:46 pm #

I’d love to have this book. I’ve actually been wanting to make a white t-shirt or two for summer.

  357. HoopesParkStudios May 5, 2014 at 5:48 pm #

I’d make a dress- probably the Nettie pattern. And some underwear to go with it.

  358. teapotrabbit May 5, 2014 at 5:50 pm #

I’m about to get a serger (just waiting on those mothers’ day sales…) so wow, what am I NOT planning to sew… I’ve got fabric in the mail for a Bombshell and a couple of Nettie t-shirts. I’m really excited to be able to sew more wardrobe staples like tshirts and tanktops.

  359. cmelvin May 5, 2014 at 5:52 pm #

Personally, I am really wanting to sew Nettie. Just out of curiosity, does this book give any suggestions on how to shop for knits online? My local shops are mostly given over to kid’s cotton prints and novelty fabrics for costuming so I’m really wanting to figure out the distance buying thing. It looks even trickier with stretch fabric.

  360. Eryn May 5, 2014 at 5:54 pm #

I’ve been following the underwear making trend with interest 🙂 What better place to practice than something almost no one sees!

  361. Jami May 5, 2014 at 5:57 pm #

I’ve just gathered enough bravery to start working with knits, and I’d love to have more help. It’s much more fun than I thought it would be!

  362. Mady May 5, 2014 at 6:00 pm #

What I want sew on a knit?Hm…everything? Basic white tees, maxi summer dresses, mini and midi skirts! Can you tell I love the stuff? But my next knit garment has to be a Nettie bodysuit! Although to be honest I’m quite anxious about it! First time working with a 4-way knit! Thanks for the giveaway! I had my eye on this book ever since its release!

  363. Raphaelle May 5, 2014 at 6:00 pm #

I would be sewing panties and dresses!

  364. redambition May 5, 2014 at 6:04 pm #

While my sewing with knits end goal is a totally gorgeous swimsuit, I’d love to be able to make fun leggings! There’s so many awesome dance/stretch fabrics out there and I’d love to have the skills to sew them up into leggings to keep my legs toasty! I even have some hot pink lycra with holographic flames on it… just waiting for me to know how to sew it up properly!

To be completely honest I’m a little scared of sewing with knits and ruining the garment. I need to work up the courage to try! Thanks for an awesome giveaway :o)

  365. Michelle May 5, 2014 at 6:04 pm #

I just started sewing my own t-shirts last summer, and discovered how easy they are to make! My goal is to quit buying so many RTW clothes and make my own, including undies. Thanks for the book review!

  366. Julie May 5, 2014 at 6:09 pm #

I am dying to make a cute and comfy dress for summer- love knits too!

  367. Penny May 5, 2014 at 6:10 pm #

I have never sewn with knit fabric but would love to learn! I would make a dress!

  368. Amber May 5, 2014 at 6:11 pm #

I really want to make some t-shirts that fit nicely!

  369. Claire Lewis May 5, 2014 at 6:12 pm #

I have been working on a few small knit projects like tops for my daughter but I would love to be able to custom make some swimmers for her so they don’t slip up her cute little bottom cheeks! Definitely need some more knit sewing practice before I get to that!
Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

    Claire Lewis

  370. Meg Kundert May 5, 2014 at 6:15 pm #

Oh, oh, pick me! I am much more comfortable with wovens and a newbie with knits. I want to make a comfy jacket with a stable knit.

  371. Beth Swanson Nere May 5, 2014 at 6:16 pm #

I’d love to make a Renfrew in sleeve/neck combination! Perhaps in every color, too….

  372. Ali M May 5, 2014 at 6:21 pm #

I’d like to get a couple go to shirt patterns that fit just right and that I can make in a few prints each – Most of my knit shirts I sew end up going in the “still need tweaking” pile! Thank you for the giveaway!

  373. Steffie May 5, 2014 at 6:28 pm #

I started sewing with knits for the first time a few months ago and I am now addicted!! I’ve made some tops and a maxi skirt so far– I would love to try a swimsuit but I’m still intimidated by the thought!

  374. Meri May 5, 2014 at 6:29 pm #

Love love love knits. Would make a Moneta dress with a lace ….oh so pretty 🙂

  375. Suze May 5, 2014 at 6:32 pm #

My figure looks best with structure in clothes, so i tend to sway towards non-stretch fabrics when sewing for myself. However since falling pregnant, I now have to learn to sew in stretch! My first planned stretch garments are a series of plain knit, long sleeved maternity tops to wear under my handmade tunics this Aussie winter.

  376. Christina May 5, 2014 at 6:38 pm #

Swants! AKA cashmere underwear cozies. I’m not going to knit something I never show to the outside world, but I am perfectly happy to cut up thrifted sweaters and sew them into leggings. From there- lingerie!

  377. Jessica May 5, 2014 at 6:40 pm #

I want to make a swimsuit and some underwear.

  378. jaggery May 5, 2014 at 6:44 pm #

Oh Yes! I would like to make a comfy dress (with gathers), pyjamas, tights, T-shirts, and a bathing suit! But, I need help! This book would be soooo awesome! Thanks for the opportunity to hope!

  379. Jo May 5, 2014 at 7:08 pm #

I’ve already sewn up and blogged a bunch of knit garments (which are so fast and easy compared to wovens! ), but Iwant to make my own undies! Mmm, saving money! Thanks for the review 🙂

  380. Emma Kirkwood May 5, 2014 at 7:14 pm #

Renfrew, Scouts & Swimsuits OH MY

  381. Cyndi May 5, 2014 at 7:18 pm #

  383. Erika Honey May 5, 2014 at 7:23 pm #

A high necked body suite! Just in time for winter down-under!

  384. DCHUFFMASTER May 5, 2014 at 7:28 pm #

I have only made 2 tops and both were the renfrew pattern. I have been wanting to make wrap dresses since I don’t own one and have been saving fabric and patterns!

  385. Elizabeth May 5, 2014 at 7:44 pm #

I’d love to make tights, leggings, and yoga pants! I’m so excited about this book.

  386. Sarah May 5, 2014 at 7:45 pm #

A comfy dress to throw on after yoga.

  387. Katie May 5, 2014 at 7:50 pm #

I’ve made one knit cardi and I love it.
I’d however love to make some knit dresses for work.
Eventually making all the knit tops that I love to throw on with jeans!

  388. Kylie May 5, 2014 at 7:50 pm #

I haven’t done any knit sewing yet, but I can’t wait to start 🙂 the list for myself would have to include Renfrew tops (cowl only, no scoop necks for me), a Coco dress and plenty of boatneck tops (3/4 and sleeveless) because you can’t have too many of those. But I would truly, deeply love to be able to make my daughter’s leggings and t-shirts and start getting her in patterns and colours that we like rather than what the fashion industry has decided is “appropriate” for a toddler!

  389. Kristin May 5, 2014 at 7:53 pm #

This looks so wonderful! I have a lot of patterns on my to-make knit list but I would probably start with a dress since I wear them the most.

  390. Betty Stitchup May 5, 2014 at 7:57 pm #

I haven’t ventured into the world of knits yet but I’ve seen so many lovely dresses popping up on the Internet I’mmdying to get started myself, this book looks like the perfect guide.

  391. christina May 5, 2014 at 7:58 pm #

I really should make some t-shirts.. but I keep making underpants instead!

  392. Marchelle May 5, 2014 at 8:03 pm #

    http://chinelobally.com/2014/02/12/the-six-piece-top/

I wanna make `THIS ^^ from the super talented Chinelo from Great British Sewing Bee Season 2. I’m a bit of a math nerd so this whole no pattern thing is super intriguing.

And alas, I am one of those no serger folks, so I feel like I need all the help I can get in the knits department. One day.

  393. Veronica May 5, 2014 at 8:21 pm #

would love to win this, neck bands will be the death of me 🙂

  394. hashigal May 5, 2014 at 8:23 pm #

Seriously? Just one sewing goal? Are you Nuttius Maxiumus??? I’ve been concocting a sewing list for my winter break.

Knitwise it so far contains: 1 maxi dress, several knit tops (final number to be correlated with my can’t-be-fracked zone, on the fly, kinda), leggings, and a swimsuit (that little Burda number that’s been selling for $2 since forever). And there’s a twisted part of me that would like to make a fake Giraffe fur blouson, coz I’m tall…and apparently a bit weird. Although fake fur doesn’t really tend to be all that knit-ish. Just the bands that go around it.

And maybe some knickers (um, knickers is Australian for panties, I think).

  395. Natalie May 5, 2014 at 8:24 pm #

I’ve done three knit shirts for my grandkids. I’m ready to make one for me! I’d learn so much for this book! Thanks for the opportunity

  396. donnyb54 May 5, 2014 at 8:31 pm #

I’ve made a couple of knit tops but I could certainly learn some new techniques! Thanks for the opportunity.

  397. Andrea H May 5, 2014 at 8:34 pm #

A cute dress for my toddler!

  398. Anna May 5, 2014 at 8:43 pm #

I’d love to make a maxi dress or skirt, and maybe a bathing suit.

  399. Laura May 5, 2014 at 8:49 pm #

I think I’d make a bunch of fun t-shirts to replace all my old ones that I’ve had since like high school 🙂 I don’t know why I’m so scared of knits either, I’ve successfully made a few things, yet I keep convincing myself those were all just a fluke. I guess I really just want someone to hold my hand! (Like this awesome book)

  400. Maria May 5, 2014 at 8:52 pm #

This book looks AMAZING. I’m one of those people who is scared to sew with knits so I would love to win this book. I would probably make a lot of wrap dresses. A quick, fun sew with plenty of possibilities.

  401. Elisha May 5, 2014 at 8:52 pm #

    Leggings! Crap tions of leggings!

  402. lynl May 5, 2014 at 8:53 pm #

  405. looloolooweez May 5, 2014 at 9:18 pm #

Oh, how sweet of you to host this giveaway for us!

I’m dying to sew a knit dress. All of my favorite RTW dresses are knit or partial knit. Though I’ve been seeing a lot of lingerie in my sewing RSS feed lately and I think I want to have a go at that too!

  406. Katy May 5, 2014 at 9:22 pm #

I would probably sew a boring knit grey tshirt 😉

  407. Lorraine May 5, 2014 at 9:36 pm #

Wowser! What a lovely giveaway…..what would I make? Some work shirts for me to start, but then who knows?

  408. joycreates May 5, 2014 at 9:47 pm #

I would love to make a dress, or a peplum top:)

  409. Elyse May 5, 2014 at 9:55 pm #

I’d love to make a jersey wrap dress.

  410. c May 5, 2014 at 10:07 pm #

Nylon tricot pajamas. Swimwear. Workout wear. And, pretty much everything else. I live in knits.

  414. jenna (@KittyCatStevens) May 5, 2014 at 10:27 pm #

CAN I JUMP ON THIS BOAT?? i wanna make 100 striped t shirts! well maybe not 100, but i wanna make some cute tops. maybe a swimsuit one day! once i’m done with the book fest I SWEAR i’m gonna SEW ALL THE THINGS

  415. Mikelyn Jones May 5, 2014 at 10:31 pm #

I want to make some knit tops and maybe a skirt or two.

  416. Shelley C. May 5, 2014 at 11:05 pm #

Whew, where to start? I love leggings, as a chronic skirt wearer, and have been wanting to make all these cute drapey tunic dresses for summer. So many things to sew, but i’ve been intimidated by my few feeble attempts at sewing knits without it looking like I had sewn it blindfolded.

  417. youngseamstress May 5, 2014 at 11:18 pm #

I really love the new Moneta pattern, so that’s first on my list! Thanks for the giveaway!

  418. Giggles in the Sun May 5, 2014 at 11:26 pm #

it would be interesting to actually read a book on sewing with knit. I have always just made it up as I went along, because knits are relatively forgiving. I have a very long list of knit project I’d like to have done yesterday, but at the moment I suppose the Plantain top from Deer&Doe is on top.

  419. Marlee May 5, 2014 at 11:40 pm #

I would love to have this book! I have been eyeing the Bombshell swimsuit pattern for awhile.

  420. the Garment Farmer May 5, 2014 at 11:47 pm #

I’ve got some knits lined up for shirts, tanks and dresses this summer. And I have to admit, I have a cover stitch machine, but I have yet to learn how to use that particular stitch. I’d love to have this book guide me !

  421. kkegeland May 5, 2014 at 11:49 pm #

well, seeing as i just taped together the nettie bodysuit pattern… i am dying to find a moment to make that!

  422. Anni May 5, 2014 at 11:51 pm #

I like to sew tops, all kinds. But right now, I will be serging a ribbed cuff to a satin safari type jacket.

  423. hollyannabella May 5, 2014 at 11:55 pm #

I think the need for a book like this is reflected pretty well in the number of comments on this post! Seems like it is an absolute essential and I’d love to get my hands on one. I definitely need some help in the knit department.

  424. Victoria May 5, 2014 at 11:55 pm #

I just want to sew anything knit. I’ve never sewn knits as they terrify me and I’d love this book to help hold my hand and grow “a pair” and just do the damn thing!

  425. Catherine May 5, 2014 at 11:59 pm #

I would love to sew a knit dress. I have this amazing ikat fabric but I’m just not sure how to start. This looks like a great resource to get going. …

  426. Rachel May 6, 2014 at 12:00 am #

The Moneta dress. Perfect dress. I have already made the first one (love!!!) but could definitely benefit from learning a bit more about sewing with knits.

  427. missjoiedevivre May 6, 2014 at 12:13 am #

Tops. I would make fantastic tops. I need to completely overhaul the “tops” section of my wardrobe!

  428. Jill May 6, 2014 at 12:42 am #

I would love to perfect sewing on knits, and and make me some knit summer pj’s!

  429. ellebougies May 6, 2014 at 12:51 am #

Me please! And sewing my own underwear would be my (tiny) big knit end goal.

  430. Lu May 6, 2014 at 12:53 am #

Lots of fitted t-shirts and mini-skirts and some pretty and comfy dresses.

  431. happysewer May 6, 2014 at 1:04 am #

For me, I’d love to make a classic wrap dress

  432. chris4trees May 6, 2014 at 1:18 am #

Great giveaway and a very interesting post! I’d definitely try a Breton top in a navy/white knit. I like the fact that it’s achievable on a home sewing machine!

  433. rachsews May 6, 2014 at 1:21 am #

I would like a collection of Breton tops in different stripe widths and colourways!

  434. SewDucky May 6, 2014 at 1:28 am #

I totally want to make a knit (and thus more wearable) version of the Project Runway monster dress.

    • caroline May 6, 2014 at 1:34 am #

raglan sleeved tee shirts, colour blocking the back, front sides and sleeves in different summery knit prints, dots and stripes.
      thanks for the giveaway!!!

  436. Mel May 6, 2014 at 1:40 am #

I have a vintage swimsuit pattern I would love to sew and just keep putting it off.

  437. Liz May 6, 2014 at 1:40 am #

Oh man, I really want to sew my own leotards for ballet class, but I’m wary about how they would turn out with only a regular sewing machine to sew knits.

  438. Annika May 6, 2014 at 1:46 am #

I have just bought the pattern for the Lady Skater dress which I’m really looking forward to making! But my ultimate goal in sewing knits would probably be to make pretty lingerie – all those small, fiddly bits with lots of elastic seems a bit intimidating to me at the moment.

  439. Collette May 6, 2014 at 1:48 am #

Wow I would so love to have this book, I have a pattern for pretty draped dress but have hesitated due to not understanding the how to use knits part! And what, my name on the book too, it’s meant to be isn’t it? Pretty please pick me!
    Collette Renee

  440. Jill May 6, 2014 at 1:49 am #

I would like to make some tees, tanktops and bodysuits in a bunch of basic colours, and then maybe once I’m done, a few in some fun prints!

  441. Laura C May 6, 2014 at 1:52 am #

As a newbie I’d like to sew the perfect t-shirt…I’ve done a couple and they aren’t bad but I could definitely do with some expert advice!!

  442. Jeannette May 6, 2014 at 2:00 am #

Dresses! Lots of dresses! Knit dresses can look smart, while you feel like you’re wearing a t-shirt…

A wrap dress out of Silk-Tencel-Jersey – i already bought the fabric and am now looking for thread in the right colour to use in my Cover-Overlock machine – yay!

  445. Helen Pauley May 6, 2014 at 2:49 am #

When I gain the confidence to sew with knits I will sew an entire wardrobe of beautiful, soft and drapey garments that are luxurious to wear and make me feel like a movie star. And at that point, I will ROCK knits!

  446. Courtney May 6, 2014 at 2:54 am #

I’d love to sew a swimsuit- I’ve got my eye on Heather’s Bombshell Swimsuit pattern but despite not minding sewing with knits usually I haven’t racked up the courage to try it yet!

  447. Kat May 6, 2014 at 3:17 am #

i’m loving the moneta at the moment, and need to make some more for my work wardrobe. I’m working up the confidence to move into the realm of underwear; this book could be the catalyst!

  448. Katy B May 6, 2014 at 3:37 am #

I’m already a knit-lover but I’d like to up my game and make a swimsuit. Those things are so damned expensive after all!

  449. soso abricot May 6, 2014 at 3:44 am #

I definitely would try the Colette’s Moneta pattern !!! Thank you for this giveaway !

  450. Vairë Gwîr May 6, 2014 at 3:56 am #

Plain white tshirts is it for me! I always need some good old basics in my closet. Thanks for the giveaway.

  451. lucielenkrad May 6, 2014 at 4:04 am #

I´d love to sew some boring black shirts but first of all some super sweet baby doll undies. No one is ever too grown up to wear these. Hope to win this book. best wishes

  452. strawberry May 6, 2014 at 4:10 am #

I’d looooove to learn to sew a wrap dress from silk jersey!

  453. Megan May 6, 2014 at 4:17 am #

I’d love to make a vintage swimsuit

  454. Sarah H May 6, 2014 at 4:18 am #

I’d love to try the Moneta. And I am on my 3rd try of the Lady Skater dress (not because the pattern is bad, it was all me). I could use help with knits.

  455. Emily Ribbons May 6, 2014 at 4:47 am #

I would love to try the Lady Skater as well. I’ve only done tops and a maxi dress in knits so far, for some reason I’m afraid of stabilising waistlines. I have a new serger that needs breaking in 🙂

  456. Vicki Kate May 6, 2014 at 4:54 am #

Blimey! I consider you a queen of knits so if you rate this, that’s a high endorsement. I have to admit to wanting basics, t’s that fit, vest tops. Day to day basics that are always in heavy rotation!

  457. Veronique May 6, 2014 at 4:59 am #

When my grandmother died last year she left me her serger. It’s made of steel and weighs a ton. It sits in my linen cupboard and I keep waiting for an opportunity to use it. It really is the most impractical thing on the planet but it was hers and I am the only one of her children and grandchildren that sews so I can’t bear to part with it. My first adventure on it should be a knit and I have the perfect Vogue pattern by Donna Karan. It’s 20 years old and is fitting I should make a vintage on an antique. 🙂

  458. Kieran May 6, 2014 at 5:08 am #

SWIMSUIT. I just cannot. handle. the horrible fit of RTW swimsuits anymore. It’s never in the right place for my bust, it always rides up my butt, I always feel like I’m one wrong move away from indecent exposure…and yet? I get so scared even thinking about starting to sew one!

  459. Rachelle May 6, 2014 at 5:09 am #

My knit end goal is a wiggle dress!

  460. Kiwimel May 6, 2014 at 5:29 am #

I am terrified of knits! I aim to make a really great t-shirt! thats all 🙂

  461. Tamsin W-P May 6, 2014 at 5:51 am #

great give away, thanks! The book will be going on my birthday list if i don’t get this! I want to replace a load of t-shirts/top for the summer as all my old rtw ones are really really past their best. and leggings for my girls – they seem so simple, but often seem really expensive for what they are

  462. Sheila Butler May 6, 2014 at 5:59 am #

I love to sew t shirts with knits… but would love to try underwear, I only got half a pair o my first attempt.

  463. deb May 6, 2014 at 6:07 am #

I’m thinking about my winter wardrobe now and am very close to buying the Moneta pattern. Its winter dresses on my mind at the moment.

  464. Muriel Carroll May 6, 2014 at 7:01 am #

I love sewing with knits…my next project will be a knit corset……interesting

  465. Lisa S. May 6, 2014 at 7:13 am #

I cannot wait to have the time to sew up a knit dress or two. I have the Moneta pattern, but there just isn’t enough time in the day right now. 😦

  466. ampersandology May 6, 2014 at 7:18 am #

My knit wear goal? To sew an army of nightgowns!

  467. Jean May 6, 2014 at 7:34 am #

I have lots of knits in my stash and plans for some cardigans and tops. Always looking to improve my sewing skills and this book looks invaluable.

  468. Ashley May 6, 2014 at 7:37 am #

I’d like to try making Colette’s Moneta and some simple everyday tees!

  469. Doris May 6, 2014 at 8:01 am #

My stash is primarily knit fabrics. My current project is yoga pants and then the Anna dress.

  470. Lizzy May 6, 2014 at 8:05 am #

Hi! I would like to sew a bathingsuit😀

  471. Caitlyn M. May 6, 2014 at 8:08 am #

My knit sewing goal is a closet full of T-shirts, but not just any T-shirts: long-sleeved T-shirts. I get cold easily, and I hate that the only options in stores in the fall and winter are tissue-thin and often raw-edged (grr, I HATE raw edges!) or they’re boxy, bulky, and designed to hide flaws but hide my curves instead. I’m ready to chuck every store-bought T I own and replace it with a me-made.

Also, I want enough leggings for every day of the week. Greedy? Sorry, not sorry. 🙂

  472. Lissa May 6, 2014 at 8:29 am #

I want to sew a peachy pink tshirt and one with grey chevrons… I already have the fabric! They’d be so welcome in my wardrobe… springy and warm, too!

  473. ipires May 6, 2014 at 8:31 am #

I want to sew a dress out of the very stretchy very slinky navy blue silk jersey I bought from Cloth a few years ago. Scary stuff to handle so a challenge for me!

  474. Edie Note May 6, 2014 at 8:34 am #

My lonely serger, and the sweet guy who gifted it, would be so happy to know I finally had a good resource for learning the basics of using her and working with knits. My few ventures into sewing knits have been filled with frustration in spite of everyone’s assurance that thy are “quick and easy.” My goal is to learn to work with my serger and gain some insights and skills in sewing knits. Colette’s pattern are so easy to follow, I know the book will be fabulous too!

  475. JillyL May 6, 2014 at 8:39 am #

I just bought 4 different knits yesterday and I want to make a dress so this book would be majorly helpful

  476. Megan May 6, 2014 at 8:51 am #

I need t-shirts in springy colors, so that’s my sewing focus right now.

  477. jenniferisnice May 6, 2014 at 8:52 am #

Oh, I want this book. When I started sewing last year, I fell down the rabbit hole of making tons of pretty dresses that everyone loved and drooled over and I got high on compliments and the chance to say, “Oh, I didn’t buy this. I made this.” Now I need things that are a bit more practical. I plan to make a bunch of Netties because bodysuits are my jam. A swimsuit may also be in my future, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

  478. Teresa May 6, 2014 at 9:00 am #

I’d like to make a swimsuit eventually, but first I’d like to get some good tees and dresses done.

  479. Laura May 6, 2014 at 9:03 am #

I would LOVE to have this resource. I’ve already tried their Moneta dress and it’s fabulous, but I know I can improve on what I’ve done. And maybe I’ll eventually get the hang of the wrestling match with the clear elastic. I also want to expand my skirt wardrobe.

  480. Chris May 6, 2014 at 9:04 am #

I’d love to sew up 5 knit tops to wear to work…
    Thank you for the giveaway!
    🙂 Chris

  481. Sherri Egan May 6, 2014 at 9:14 am #

The new Moneta dress!!! I will make it anyway but the tips on using a serger would sure help! 🙂

  482. swoodsonsays May 6, 2014 at 9:14 am #

Id love to try a swim suit! Knits are my favorite.

  483. beklet May 6, 2014 at 9:26 am #

I’d love to sew anything that doesn’t sag, quite frankly..I’d like to be able to stabilise knits, and make a nice flowy dress that doesn’t make me look lumpy..

  484. Kimmy May 6, 2014 at 9:34 am #

I would like to sew some knit tops and dresses with foldover elastic for the trim/binding.

  485. MeganM May 6, 2014 at 9:53 am #

I just made a no-serge knit top from an old raglan pattern, and I’m dying to remake it as the underarm got a little weird in the knit fabric (feels like it rotated too far back). Knits are so fantastic!

  486. strawberrypancakesbykim May 6, 2014 at 10:11 am #

Awesome! I’d sew up some knit dresses – more complex ones than the t-shirt type dresses I have done in the past.

  487. Corey May 6, 2014 at 10:45 am #

I’m actually really excited to get to work on some super basic t-shirts.

  488. Amy May 6, 2014 at 10:47 am #

I would love to never have to buy another t-shirt again!

  489. Patricia B. May 6, 2014 at 11:01 am #

I love sewing knits! Right now I am sewing a wardrobe of spring and summer knit dresses.

  490. S B Web May 6, 2014 at 11:02 am #

The book looks great! I have made some tops but they could have been a lot better. I want to have more simple classic go-to items in my wardrobe and knits are the way to get there.

  491. Meghan May 6, 2014 at 11:19 am #

I would love to be able to sew everyday things for myself like shirts and sweatshirts!

  492. ksa May 6, 2014 at 11:28 am #

I want to sew t-shirts for my little! he turns 21 months tomorrow, so I have years and years of t-shirts in my future. and the price you have to pay in the store for a tiny t-shirt? no thank you! I’d rather he be wearing one, made with love, from mom ❤ and if i ever get the time, some t-shirts and skirts for mom as well, would rule. yay for sewing!

  493. Andi May 6, 2014 at 12:10 pm #

How awesome! I’d like to never have to buy a t0shirt or tank top again. And maybe to venture into making my own underthings 🙂

  494. onewarpedengineer May 6, 2014 at 12:16 pm #

I love knits, but they are still worrisome. I adore ruffle-cuff capris to dance in. Fitted t-shirts, yoga pants, leggings, long fitted t-shirts to wear with leggings; all are on my list of things to make. 🙂

  495. Big Red May 6, 2014 at 12:45 pm #

I would sew ALL OF THE KNIT DRESSES. ALL OF THEM. And then a few leggings.

  496. Susan May 6, 2014 at 1:33 pm #

Knits are good for travel, I think. I’m sewing right now a pair of knit pants that will not wrinkle. I’d love more instruction! and the book sounds great!

  497. Margaret May 6, 2014 at 1:57 pm #

    I would sew knit dresses

  498. Stacey May 6, 2014 at 2:02 pm #

I would love to make a swimsuit. Maybe a bit ambitious as I am a beginner, but I love all the retro styles of suits! Thanks for the great post and the give-away!

  499. Mary Anne May 6, 2014 at 2:07 pm #

I would sew the Moneta dress. I am getting married this summer and the Moneta will be the perfect reception attire.

  500. Amy White Schmitz May 6, 2014 at 2:15 pm #

I’m a sewing noob, and I totally jumped right into knits. I’ve made several T-shirts and a dress on my regular machine. In the lineup for this summer are more shirts, including the Deer & Doe Plantain, and the Moneta. I’ve downloaded the pattern but haven’t played with it yet!

  501. marcyhmakes May 6, 2014 at 2:34 pm #

I want to sew up a fit and flare knit dress in stripes. I keep trying them on and thinking I could do a better job…

  502. Jen May 6, 2014 at 2:36 pm #

Currently I’m making Ensis Tees from Papercut and some women’s boyleg underwear, I would love to make some dresses aww and to use pretty stretch laces with them!!!!!!!!

  503. Frau Leo May 6, 2014 at 3:13 pm #

I’d like to make T-shirts that actually fit me and sports clothing.
Looking out for an affordable overlocker since a while 🙂

  504. Clem May 6, 2014 at 3:34 pm #

Youhou ! I’d love to try my hand at some yoga pants – I can never find anything that fit me.
Thank you for the chance !

  505. Tara May 6, 2014 at 3:48 pm #

What a great giveaway! I would love to try my hand at the Bombshell Swimsuit by Heather of Closet Case Files!

  506. Dreaming of Avonlea May 6, 2014 at 4:17 pm #

Oh that looks glorious! I would love to read more of some of those tips! I’d love to make a sweatshirt with a proper ribbed neckline and sleeves!

  507. seamsoddlouise May 6, 2014 at 4:21 pm #

Fantastic giveaway, please include me. I need to sew more knits as my RTW clothes are all jersey knits and I’d rather not buy any more.

  508. Kai Jones May 6, 2014 at 4:35 pm #

I am experimenting with lagenlook style and would love to sew a knit jumper-style tunic to wear with (also knit) leggings. I was brave enough to buy some fabric but now I’m too chicken to cut into it without a guide!

  509. Katy May 6, 2014 at 4:38 pm #

I’m torn…I’d like to be able to sew a basic well-fitting dress (recent Lola fail), but I’ve also been seeing all the amazing lingerie popping up lately. I could go either way.

  510. Di May 6, 2014 at 5:07 pm #

I am a newbie sewer and have spent a lot of time this winter reading yours and the Colette sewing blog. This book would be a great reference. A gift from those who know a lot to those who know little!

  511. ginara13 May 6, 2014 at 5:27 pm #

For me it might almost be boring white t-shirts! The basics in a wardrobe are so important!

  512. lholy May 6, 2014 at 5:38 pm #

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this book. I’ve been considering getting it so it’s interesting to read what others think about it.
Thank you also for the giveaway. 🙂 I made my first two t-shirts last year and I plan to make more nice looking t-shirts. I also really want to try some knit dresses. I’d love to make a comfy yet stylish knit dress (Moneta is tempting me). And some time in the future my dream would be to make a retro style swimsuit.

  513. kiwimagpieness May 6, 2014 at 5:38 pm #

Yay, for giveaway! I must say you’re a big influence for me trying more knits and I am a self confessed knit convert. I’ve still got HEAPS to learn so a sewing with knits reference would be awesome. I’ve made basic knit tees, dresses, a swimsuit and leggings so I’d like to try a more complicated knit dress, possibly with draping or zips, and baby clothes (sewing tiny clothes terrifies me somewhat…)

  514. pattyskypants May 6, 2014 at 5:46 pm #

I want to win this book. I want to learn how to sew knits and I want to make a closet full of nifty Gudren Sjoden-inspired dresses! xoxo Patty

  515. Sena May 6, 2014 at 6:12 pm #

If I win the book I will make a long vest/duster/waistcoat thingy, with ruffles around the edges. The kind you can wear over jeans and a tank for an instant romantic look. Like those gorgeous flowy creations that Free People sells for a million dollars that I could afford.

And thank you for the review! I am a novice seamstress and in my very first sewing class I was told to stay away from knits, which is all I ever wear. It made me so SAD! Then my friend who sews a lot told me that is bs and that i just need to google around for a good book. I hope I win!

  516. Sabrina May 6, 2014 at 6:22 pm #

I’d love to make a Moneta. I’ve been pining over the pattern and might just have to take the plunge and get it. I foresee many knit dresses in my future, and many hours at the serger!

  517. Ashley May 6, 2014 at 6:27 pm #

I would love to sew a dress! I loooove dresses!!!

  518. Phoebe May 6, 2014 at 6:43 pm #

I want to make so many underwear and T-shirts!!! Great giveaway!

  519. Trisha M May 6, 2014 at 6:47 pm #

I need to sew some maternity tops for the hot summer coming up!

  520. GrammytheYeti May 6, 2014 at 6:51 pm #

OK, since I first started reading your post, over 50 people left comments. Wow! I never win these giveaways so I’m ordering from Amazon anyway. But just in case I win and can share the book with a sewing buddy for Christmas, I’d love to be able to sew my own swimwear. I like bandeau top tankinis with full coverage bottoms. And I buy swimwear like most women buy shoes. The suites I like in the stores and catalogs are $50 per piece and up so learning to sew my own is simply a matter of basic economics for this swimwear-a-holic.

  521. Shelby May 6, 2014 at 6:53 pm #

My favorite go-to dress is black knit…but it’s over 15 years old by this point, which means it’s faded, stretched out, and dotted with a few bleach stains. My goal is to figure out how to make a copycat version, so I can always have it. 🙂 Looks like a great book!

  522. BusyLizzie May 6, 2014 at 7:05 pm #

I love sewing knits, but would like to challenge myself to make a swimsuit that is wearable in the water and supportive. Yep that will be a challenge 🙂

  523. Tricia May 6, 2014 at 7:23 pm #

I would love to sew a knit dress, they are so comfortable and easy to wear.

  524. Kelly May 6, 2014 at 8:37 pm #

I’ve sewn with knits for a while, making dresses, skirts, and tops. I wish I knew how to finish them with a serger because they would look so much for professional.

  525. Joy May 6, 2014 at 8:39 pm #

Oh boy! I’d sew some tees. I have a couple old ones that I’ve saved to make a pattern from. Just need to take the plunge!

  526. Michelle May 6, 2014 at 8:41 pm #

What a great giveaway. I would like to make the Moneta dress, love that it has so many possibilities

  527. Jessica May 6, 2014 at 9:00 pm #

I want to be able to make up more beautiful basics (like drapey rayon tshirts), with the goal of finishing them in a professional way!

  528. sewitrockit May 6, 2014 at 9:06 pm #

Swimwear, because when I see $200 in store for an itty bitty bikini when I know they have used about half a meter of fabric, my eyes just swoon and I wanna puke.

  529. Audie Demeter May 6, 2014 at 9:15 pm #

Tshirts! Being preggo knits are my best friend for the next few months 🙂

  530. tailormadeblog May 6, 2014 at 9:39 pm #

I would make an inordinate amount of tees and sweatshirts to bum around in. :’D

  531. catkins13 May 6, 2014 at 10:34 pm #

I would like to make the Bombshell swimsuit – i have recently started sewing knits – and i think now I would be keen to get an overlocker….

  532. Liz May 6, 2014 at 10:48 pm #

I would make t-shirts for my husband that are both skinny enough that they fit his torso and long enough so they actually cover his belt! And then make matching t-shirts for my sons 🙂 And of course fun dresses for my nieces. And I’m sure a million more things! I’m just learning about knits and this book sounds like a great resource!

  533. Kara May 6, 2014 at 11:14 pm #

I think this year I will try a swimsuit. I don’t think it ever would have occurred to me before, but the Bombshell swimsuit is so cute I’ve just about convinced myself to give it a try. Knits don’t scare me, but nylon/lycra does for some reason…

  534. Patty May 7, 2014 at 12:10 am #

I would really love to start sewing with knits, especially as I almost always wear some kind of cardigan — which I hope to master with this book! Thanks for the giveaway!

  535. Kate May 7, 2014 at 12:23 am #

I would love to design a knit fabric, have it printed and make endless pairs of bikinis with it!

  536. Callie May 7, 2014 at 12:58 am #

I absolutely need this book in my life!! I have been brave and decided to use a da ponte knit for my next sewing project but am terrified! There is a lovely stash of aubergine and grey material just waiting for me to get courage.. . or this book! xx

  537. Amanda May 7, 2014 at 1:32 am #

    3 words: Summer. Maxi. Dresses.

  538. Emmely May 7, 2014 at 1:49 am #

Right now I’m sticking to t-shirts and dresses. Someday, underwear? swimsuit? who knows…

  539. Gina C May 7, 2014 at 2:09 am #

I want to make some tops and tunics…maybe some undies too!

  540. sewlaurasew May 7, 2014 at 2:42 am #

I’m super keen to make a knit dress – I keep putting it off though because I have SO MUCH woven fabric in my stash, it’s becoming obscene. But yes – I need to buy some fabric and make a dress.

  541. verypurpleperson May 7, 2014 at 2:46 am #

I need some boring white T-shirts, so count me in! 🙂

  542. Irene A May 7, 2014 at 2:50 am #

I would like to sew the perfect twirly summer skirt. Knee-long, with pockets and lots of volume for twirling!

  543. Charlene Steele (@shesewsbythesea) May 7, 2014 at 3:29 am #

I I would love to sew up more Out and About dresses by Sew Caroline, more Coco dresses by Tilly and the Buttons, and a ton of easy to wear t-shirts from the left over fabric (I am a lazy dresser).

  544. Claire May 7, 2014 at 4:56 am #

Hmmm everything?! My entire wardrobe seems to consist of stretchy fabrics so it would be great to make stuff I would pretty much wear constantly. I’m desperate to have a go at the bombshell bathing suit too, if I can get over my fear of course!

  545. Anne May 7, 2014 at 5:34 am #

I want to sew a well made knit dress with interesting details that will be appropriate for wearing at my professional/conservative workplace.

  546. edukedesigns May 7, 2014 at 5:48 am #

This book looks like just what I need! This past winter I reboarded the “Knit Boat”! So far so good but still have so many different types of knits, patterns n techniques to try!!
    Pick me (please!)!

  547. Jeanne Hill May 7, 2014 at 6:33 am #

    bodysuits 🙂

  548. coccolesole May 7, 2014 at 7:36 am #

I would lovd to make yoga pants and bodysuits and tshirts and dresses and… aha i love knits, they are so comfy!

  549. Gaenor May 7, 2014 at 8:06 am #

I really want to make myself some t-shirts. I have a length of fabric waiting to be practised with, I am just procrastinating…

  550. Elizabeth May 7, 2014 at 8:46 am #

I would love to sew a knit dress with a gathered waist but I have had so much trouble getting the seam line smooth and stable…ugh…so I’d love it if this book could help. Thanks for the giveaway!

  551. beecee08 May 7, 2014 at 9:30 am #

I’ll definitely be sewing the new Moneta with a Peter Pan collar! I’ve never sewn with a knit fabric before though, so this book would help tremendously.

  552. nenewhis May 7, 2014 at 10:55 am #

I would love to make a bathing suit – I haven’t made one in about 20 years, and I would love to try out new sewing with knit techniques.

  553. pirtee May 7, 2014 at 11:03 am #

So I just bought the Nettie from Closet Case Patterns…. even though I’m scared of knits. I’d love to win this lovely book instead of doing frantic googling for “sewing with knits tips” that was my original gameplan.

  554. Helena May 7, 2014 at 11:11 am #

I would love to make basics in knits, starting with learning about different types of knit fabrics. Then I’ll know what I need for making t-shirts and tops in knit.

  555. edenz May 7, 2014 at 11:19 am #

I bought the renfrew pattern a while ago and would love to actually sew it up

  556. Nina May 7, 2014 at 12:02 pm #

Really boring basic everyday knickers (panties to you)!

  557. Jenni Lithgow May 7, 2014 at 12:03 pm #

I’d love to win the book! “Learn to sew with knits” is on my 2014 goals list. 😉 I have been hoarding several different knit fabrics and patterns to use them with, but I think I’d start with a wrap dress!

  558. Rebecca Wampler May 7, 2014 at 12:15 pm #

I want to sew knit dresses for traveling!

  559. littlesewingdreams May 7, 2014 at 12:40 pm #

I would sew Dresses. Knit Dresses are sooo comfortable to wear. Thank to yu and Sarah for the give away!

  560. Eleyna May 7, 2014 at 12:53 pm #

Honestly, I’d want to sew up everything with knits – T-shirts, cardigans, sweaters (with sweater-knit fabric), hoodies, sweat shirts, leggings, dresses. The list goes on and on 🙂

  561. Veronica C. May 7, 2014 at 1:47 pm #

I think I’d be down to make a Nettie and a few knit dresses for the summer. You know, other than, say…an entire wardrobe full of knits.

  562. Michelle E May 7, 2014 at 1:47 pm #

I want to get comfortable with sewing knits.

  563. Valentina May 7, 2014 at 3:17 pm #

Hi there I follow this blog from Italy, I wound like to sew a jersey sexy slip!

  564. D McE May 7, 2014 at 3:27 pm #

I’d start with t-shirts. During the working week, I wear suits with t shirts. At the weekend I wear jeans with t shirts. If I could sew t shirts that would be about 60% of my wardrobe me-made!

  565. Simone Schermann May 7, 2014 at 3:35 pm #

I love sewing with knits especially shirts. For myself and the kids. I haven’t found the right pattern for a knit dress, somehow I always end up cutting the skirt off and wearing the top as a shirt. I am not so sure what the problem is … maybe I’m not meant to wear knit dresses …

  566. Megan May 7, 2014 at 4:58 pm #

I’d love to make some boring tees that actually fit my extreme hourglass figure. No cleavage and pulling for work! Plus maybe some cute drapey skirts.

  567. Nikki H. May 7, 2014 at 6:02 pm #

I’d like my entire summer wardrobe to be made of knit dresses. This book looks gorgeous and I’d love to learn new tips!

  568. woolgatheringsofamagpie May 7, 2014 at 6:15 pm #

Hi there, Wow well the first knit item I really want to make is a 60’s black mini dress in a Chanelesque style, long sleeves complete with white Peter Pan collar and cuffs. Although now I’ve seen the stretch lace info maybe I could have a collar of that. What lovely choices. Fabulous thanks for this post the book looks great. Jayne x

  569. Ladawn R May 7, 2014 at 6:47 pm #

Everything! I’ve sewn some with knits but this book looks like it would be very helpful to make every step easier and nicer looking. This will be sew fun! Thank you for sharing.

  570. StaceyMade May 7, 2014 at 6:53 pm #

I was going to say leggings since I’ve never made a pair but actually I have had beautiful knit cardigans on my “never gonna sew” list like FOREVER but I wear one almost every day! So with the help of this book – I would conquer my fear of delicate knit cardigans!

  571. Colorado Cowgirl May 7, 2014 at 7:08 pm #

I work on a ranch, and I prefer the feel of a t-shirt over a long-sleeve western shirt, so I’ve been mulling making a longsleeve shirt with a knit fabric…

  572. Anna May 7, 2014 at 8:27 pm #

I have always wanted to make a decent looking swimsuit. Previously I had attempted it, but maybe due to incorrect supplies it didn’t work out too good: think holes in spandex from wrong needles. I would like to give it another shot, and maybe learn about some tips about sewing with knits as well

  573. Toni May 7, 2014 at 9:13 pm #

I want to sew a few long-sleeve crewneck maxi dresses. And t-shirts.

  574. Charissa May 7, 2014 at 9:40 pm #

Purple (well, plum) work-appropriate wrap dress! (Maybe tiramisu?)
After that, a whole mess of boring (and non-boring) tees.

  575. Pamela H. May 7, 2014 at 9:49 pm #

I have made knit t-shirts. However, I would like to try sewing my own undergarments.

  576. Ada May 7, 2014 at 9:56 pm #

I’m trying to learn how to sew with knits on my (regular) sewing machine so I bought a walking foot and spent a few frustrating hours trying to sew myself a sexy little crop top only to find out the next day, via YouTube, that I’d installed the walking foot all wrong. (It didn’t come with instructions.) Not sure why I didn’t just look it up in the first place but yeah, this is an indication that I need a little help! And as for what I’d sew once I get it working well? Leggings. I basically live in leggings and I love crazy patterned ones!

  577. Another Gertie May 7, 2014 at 10:15 pm #

I have a dream of making the bombshell swimsuit this year – got the fabric, but need the courage to get started. This book could be the turning point!

  578. Felisha May 7, 2014 at 10:15 pm #

Scoop neck tees and a swimsuit!

  579. Kate Stark May 7, 2014 at 10:48 pm #

I already love sewing with knits as I mostly sew for my kids. I still consider myself a novice though, and each item a new ‘experiment’. Id love the new Colette book to get some more ideas on finishing in particular. AND I really want to sew something for myself! I think Im going to start with a Renfrew top 🙂

  580. rdejam May 8, 2014 at 12:20 am #

I’d sew a casual dress for myself. I’ve lost 72 pounds and need a new wardrobe but nothing slinky. I’ve never sewn with knits but I really need to learn. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  581. PaulaP May 8, 2014 at 12:52 am #

I would love to make a stylish 50s style wool knit dress – slim, some nice teal color, and comfortable.

  582. MelodyJ May 8, 2014 at 1:51 am #

I would like to make a knit skirt first. My goal is to move on from there.

  583. sharon May 8, 2014 at 2:50 am #

I would love to be able to make things like swimming costumes, as well as fitted long sleeve tops and body con dresses. I love knits!

  584. Sara May 8, 2014 at 3:50 am #

I’d love to make my own undergarments in knit fabric’s with stretch lace looking fab! And my goal is to not buy any cloths but socks.

  585. Nancy Kers May 8, 2014 at 4:02 am #

I have been sewing from the ottobre magazine, they use a lot of knits, soooooo comfy to wear! As a designer I love sewing the most with my own designed fabrics for my little boy, and also knits! (http://kerskunst.blogspot.nl) That’s just wat little kids want to wear, soft and cosy. A fabric company called Liandlo came out with some fabrics with my own design. I am self-taught so could learn some stuff about knits!

  586. edukedesigns May 8, 2014 at 5:35 am #

Def want to try those knit tee shirts!!

  587. jen dub May 8, 2014 at 5:55 am #

Weeeelll, i have a piece of lush herringbone wool knit giving me the hairy eyeball from my stash, but i need me some knit skillz before i tackle that baby, and some ideaz on what the hell to do with it. Surely this mega book can help even me?!

  588. sewingpies May 8, 2014 at 6:35 am #

Very nervous to begin with knits but I think this book will help! I’d love to start with a swimsuit!!

  589. Jenny Lang May 8, 2014 at 8:47 am #

I’m still very new to garment sewing, starting small with clothes for my two young girls, but I love the idea of being able to sew myself some shirts/dresses, and knit seems like it would be a good place to start!

  590. Jess K May 8, 2014 at 9:00 am #

All the things! Tops, skirts, dresses, underwear, swimsuit, all of the above! Warm weather clothes! Until I’ve made enough to justify buying a serger! I also think knit clothing items would be easier to make for other people (like my mom), maybe fewer fit issues? If only I had this book 😉

  591. Pootle and Make May 8, 2014 at 11:50 am #

My ultimate would be a DVF wrap dress. I’ve only done Renfrew and Plantain so have yet to graduate to more complex patterns. Knits still scare me a little.

  592. carolinascallin May 8, 2014 at 2:07 pm #

Since I broke both hands in a fall in early March, knits have been my best friend – and quite literally all I’ve been able to manage wearing! No zippers, buttons, tricky over-the-head maneuvering…just pull them up/on and go! Problem? FINDING knit pieces that look great and fit!

Now that both casts are off (WooHoo!) and rehab has begun, I’d like to sew some things to wear as it’s going to be a few more months before getting dressed isn’t a major drama…lol!

First up? NICE pull on skirt and top in some great ponte I have. Then, would love to do a wrap dress or maybe just an easy tee shirt style dress that would slip over my head. Pull on pants and capris would be excellent…the ones I bought when this happened that aren’t athletic pants are already pilling!

I’ve always loved knits…but until this happened, never realized how darn difficult it is to find well made, high quality knits to purchase ready made. Even the pricier ones have been a disappointment due to fabric quality or fit. Time to have a go myself…Bonus: Great hand therapy! 🙂

  593. Celeste May 8, 2014 at 2:29 pm #

I would make more knit tank dresses and tees than I’d know what to do with.

  594. Diann Cornell May 8, 2014 at 4:57 pm #

I have almost no experience with knits and would like to start with a t-shirt or nightgown.

  595. Carla C May 8, 2014 at 5:20 pm #

I wanna sew the Lane Raglan shirt in all its many variations!

  596. Ashley May 8, 2014 at 5:27 pm #

I have a raglan t-shirt pattern for my kids and I would love to sew a few. I will admit I am a little intimidated by knits and it seems my sewing machine likes to eat certain fabrics…knits just happen to be one. I know it’s something I’m doing wrong, so maybe this book will help!

  597. hadeel May 8, 2014 at 6:35 pm #

I would do a lot of stuff, starting off with a maxi dress for Summer!

  598. Jennifer Lachman May 8, 2014 at 7:11 pm #

I would love to make a few knit tank tops for the summer.

  599. CosmicCaro May 8, 2014 at 8:16 pm #

I started sewing knits last year but I have problem with finishing the neckline… I have a few project in my queue still : a cowl back top I copied from RTW and more undies ; but with softer elastic this time!! Thanks for the giveaway!

  600. Carol S May 8, 2014 at 8:40 pm #

I am currently working on my first knit dress, in the striped knit fabric we bought together at Mood, but what I really need to get good enough to do is make my own plain white Tees. RTW ones are always too long.

  601. Kathy Middleton May 8, 2014 at 9:00 pm #

My hope is to make performance type tops and shorts my 12 yo daughter is willing to wear. No book will get past the “Oh, Mom” factor, but if I can learn to get a good finish, maybe I’ve got a chance.

  602. PinhousePlaymate May 8, 2014 at 9:38 pm #

I would love to make undies and swimsuits for summer 🙂 I have never tried knits, terrified of that shit :O I really should get over it…

  603. Sara May 8, 2014 at 10:22 pm #

I have underwear and bathing suit patterns awaiting experimentation. This book would be super helpful. Amazon.ca doesn’t even sell it 😦

  604. Marianne Grant May 8, 2014 at 11:16 pm #

With winter fast approaching here (Melbourne, Australia) I am thinking of making my very first pair of ponte pants to be worn with an oversized top made with one of the scrumptious Missoni wool knits available from my favourite local fabric shop ‘Tessuti’. (My antidote for Mood Fabrics envy!!!!!

  605. MelissaPurls May 9, 2014 at 12:33 am #

I’ve been wanting to make the Bombshell swimsuit. And tees and camis.

  606. Stephanie May 9, 2014 at 12:47 am #

Dresses, dresses and more summer dresses. A girl is always in need of more dresses!

  607. Jessie May 9, 2014 at 1:40 am #

    Ode to Knits:
    I’ve recently taken up sewing
    After some to-ing and fro-ing
    I worked with knits
    To make some new kit
Let me tell you how it’s going.

    Knits are soft and gentle
The slippery ones can make you mental
    They sew up real fast
    And are sure to last
With knits you can be experimental!

Next to try is a swimsuit
    The bombshell pattern looks cute
    I’ll give it try
    I’m sure I’ll scrape by
    Wearing it will be hoot!

  608. Mai Tran May 9, 2014 at 2:46 am #

I plan to knit a warm shirt for my lovely Weimaraner Ebba. She has short hair so she’s always cold when going out during winter here in the north pole.

  609. Vicki May 9, 2014 at 4:27 am #

Winters coming……in New Zealand…knits would be helpful right about now!

  610. koot May 9, 2014 at 4:47 am #

I’d like to make a swimsuit (the bombshell pattern looks really good) but find the idea rather scary.

  611. elizabeth May 9, 2014 at 5:13 am #

I would love to make a sundress for the summer!

  612. L-Wie May 9, 2014 at 7:17 am #

Um. . .everything. I am terrified to sew with knits, but nearly everything I like to wear is knit fabric, so I can’t wait to finally tackle them and begin building my wardrobe!

  613. kristonlion May 9, 2014 at 7:18 am #

definitely a swimsuit! when will it finally be bombshell time for me!? 🙂

  614. Jennifer Blackman May 9, 2014 at 8:55 am #

I love knits but have never really learned to use them. I would make nearly everything for me and the kids (shirts, skirts, swimsuits, etc.)

  615. G May 9, 2014 at 9:26 am #

    There’s a bodysuit looking my way lately…

  616. Kelly May 9, 2014 at 9:59 am #

I’d love to perfect a t-shirt for me and then make a million of them in different colors!

  617. Leilani May 9, 2014 at 10:05 am #

Dresses, yes. Swimsuit, yes. Boring white t-shirts, yes. YES! Moneta and Bombshell are awaiting mail delivery (Moneta) and courage (Bombshell).

  618. Rebecca Sweeton May 9, 2014 at 10:11 am #

T-shirts, both long and short sleeved! And sweatpants. 🙂

  619. Ashley May 9, 2014 at 10:12 am #

I love sewing with knits and I’m sure I could learn a lot more from this book. I have yet to try swimsuit sewing or lingerie sewing as both seem a bit intimidating. I hope to tackle them soon though.

  620. scruffybadger May 9, 2014 at 10:19 am #

I loooove sewing knits and I loooove my overlocker. I love that knits are stylish, comfy & easy to care for (ie perfect for lazy peeps like me). I would love to sew more details into my knits, like the collars, those darling collars, on the Monetta dress – the scoopy one and the tie neck. That would be a good goal to achieve.

  621. Lise May 9, 2014 at 10:30 am #

I would like to sew long sleeve t shirts. I can never find ones that I really like, so I would like to sew my own.

  622. thetelltaletasha May 9, 2014 at 10:38 am #

I’d make a knit blazer because they’re so versatile 🙂

  623. Joanna May 9, 2014 at 10:41 am #

It looks like a super book. I’d love to make a tank style dress.

  624. macstabby May 9, 2014 at 11:02 am #

I just bought a fuckton of knit fabrics whilst in LA, and I’m scared to use them! I want to make stripey tshirts, and lots o’ lady skaters.

  625. Erin Debenport May 9, 2014 at 11:14 am #

I would make Monette, plus some cute yoga clothes that improve on my usual gross rock t-shirt and unflattering pants.

  626. Priscilla May 9, 2014 at 11:24 am #

love it! I would work on learning how to use some of the different stitches that I have no idea how to use. Perhaps a few more dresses!

  627. Jacey May 9, 2014 at 11:31 am #

I really want to try my hand at a swim suit this year…the bombshell one in particular…

  628. Jenny May 9, 2014 at 12:02 pm #

I just finished washing a stack of new knit fabrics! Soon enough I’ll have some new tees and tank dresses!! But my biggie for the summer… I’m gonna tackle a swimsuit! Color me terrified!!!

  629. joli c. simmons May 9, 2014 at 12:19 pm #

I would love to make a wrap skirt and a wrap dress.

  630. Melissa May 9, 2014 at 12:45 pm #

I have a wrap dress that i have been meaning to make all winter and now that summer is here I guess it is about time I make it!

  631. Colleen May 9, 2014 at 12:52 pm #

I’ve just started sewing so anything to help would be fab! What knit item would I make? We’ll Ive picked up McCalls 6559 and I’d love to sew view E in a comfy knit. (Maxi dress)

  632. Canal Couture May 9, 2014 at 1:15 pm #

I just finished my first Lady Skater and that got me really into sewing with knits. Ponte was not intimidating at all, so next I would love to try a less stable knit. It would be so nice to learn all about knits with the help of this book.

  633. Iselin May 9, 2014 at 1:21 pm #

I’m mass producing basic raglan jersey tops for my two girls at the moment (they’ve grown so much since last summer!), but I’d love some inspiration for sewing with knits for myself. Somehow I always end up making stuff for the girls…

  634. JTodd May 9, 2014 at 1:26 pm #

I would love to see up some comfy cover-ups for the beach or pool. Perfect as we head into summery weather and a good beginner project I think!

  635. Brigitte May 9, 2014 at 1:27 pm #

I’ve made 2 knit dresses so far and I love them, they are so comfy! Although I could definitely use some tips and tricks from the book. I would love to make a swimsuit and hopefully one day I find sewing knits as easy as non-stretch fabric.

  636. PendleStitches May 9, 2014 at 1:49 pm #

I need to crack knits! I want to make Montana and yoga pants for me and tee for the husband…shop bought men’s tees aren’t a great fit on him!

  637. Erin Myone May 9, 2014 at 2:11 pm #

Oh I definitely want to own this book. I need all the knit advice I can get. I’ve honestly never had a successful knit sewn. So I would start easy, maybe a skirt, and work towards better things a dress a tee, a hoody ( I remember you had a gorgeous hoody a few months ago). Thanks for the giveaway!

  638. Mary May 9, 2014 at 2:21 pm #

I love sewing with knits! Just so quick and easy 😉 It looks like this book will be very useful, I had overlooked it but it’s now going straight on my wish list!

  639. Anonymous May 9, 2014 at 2:29 pm #

I would love to make a slinky little black dress, I have the perfect jersey knit which has a hint if sparkle I just lack the know how, maybe soon I’ll pluck up the courage.

  640. Lynn May 9, 2014 at 3:05 pm #

I am so into knits lately — I want everything in my closet to stretch! I love the Moneta dress so I would make that and I also want to perfect t-shirts and underwear.

  641. Kathryn May 9, 2014 at 4:15 pm #

Would love to try to make some knit shorts for my terrible boys.

  642. erinalter May 9, 2014 at 4:43 pm #

ooo! i have been doing lots of research to take up sewing again. and i would make a fantastical wrap dress.

  643. Cathy May 9, 2014 at 5:07 pm #

I’d love to win this, I am terrible at sewing with knits and yet I want to wear them all the time. A dress is my favourite, for sure, but I also like tees, skirts, leggings. Everything! Thanks for the giveaway.

  644. monica L. May 9, 2014 at 5:23 pm #

Ahhh! I want to make EVERYTHING in knit!! I have a few dresses in mind and several tees as well. Would love to see more of what’s in this book!!

  645. tomatoworm May 9, 2014 at 5:39 pm #

I enjoy sewing, and I love the convenience and softness of wearing knits, but I’m afraid to cut and sew knitted fabric. It’s irrational, but there you have it!

Making my own pajamas, nightgowns, and golf shirts would be fabulous. I could trim the shirts to match my golf shorts and end up with wowzer outfits.

    Thanks for this offer,

    Karen Armour

I have a 1970s bikini kit I have been hoarding for a couple years, and that’s what i’d like to do for my next knit project.

  647. Anne Ominous (@rustoleumlove) May 9, 2014 at 6:54 pm #

Well, I just got out lots of knit fabrics (that I have) and patterns (that I also have) and just procrastinate as I have only ever made one knit t-shirt. I’ve had my overlocker for over 20 years and really just do seams. I need all the help I can get. Loads of entries here!

  650. Maria May 9, 2014 at 7:53 pm #

Oooh, fantastic. I really, really need this book. I’ve never sewed knits but I think it’s about time I did. Thank you for the giveaway!

  651. Janice May 9, 2014 at 7:58 pm #

I would love to learn more about knits. sounds like a great book, would love to win this!

  652. sheepgomoo May 9, 2014 at 9:36 pm #

As much as I love LOOKing at fabulous patterns, skirts and dresses, I am most comfortable in basics and plain colors- I think once I face my fear of knits, my ultimate dream would be to make clones of my favorite v-neck t shirt in every shade of purple that exists in the universe. Or, like, ten.

  653. Kathy May 9, 2014 at 9:42 pm #

I would like to sew the bombshell swimsuit like many others. I already bought some really cute fabric.

  654. Kara May 9, 2014 at 9:51 pm #

I’ve been trying to get up the courage to make the Bombshell Swimsuit. Swimsuit fabric seems scarier than regular knits for some reason I’m not totally clear on . . .

  655. Brigid Grace May 9, 2014 at 10:06 pm #

I have just ordered the Mabel and the Moneta from Colette! BUT… I am brand new to this sewing thing and the sewing BLOGS in particular sooooooo..because of you and Mary at Idlefancy I also want to make a Lady Skaters dress because they are ahfuckingmazing looking! Thanks Lladybird!!!

I’d probably sew up the Bombshell swimsuit, which in turn might force me to go to a place where I can actually wear it!

wow what an amazing book. I’m pretty much self taught and sometimes I’m left scratching my head with no idea where to go. I’ve made a few knit garments for myself and the kids and they have mostly been wearable, however what I really want to master is making my own underwear.

I’ve been following your blog for awhile and I must say you are very inspiring.

I’d love to be able to make my own knit tops and t-shirts!

Ooh, looks like a useful book! I’d love to be able to do nice, neat and decorative finishes on lingerie – one day I’ll get brave and try using pretty, beautiful expensive fabric and delicate lace etc for trim.

I love knits! I am going to try to make more dresses and tees .

Sounds like a great book! Please enter me for the giveaway. There are so many things I want to sew with knits – I also really want to give underwear a go – I’ve bought the fabric, and I’ve bought the lace, but I balked at attaching it, so that section would be really helpful!

As the weather is warming up where I live, I would make dresses to start of with but the idea of making a swimsuit sounds great for my next holiday. I’ve found Colette’s previous book informative and great for beginners so I’m sure this book will be just as good.

I would start with a couple of knit dresses. I love to wear knits but don’t have experience in sewing them. I think this is just the thing I need to change that to “I love to sew & wear knits”

I’d like to sew a nightie with lace trimming. Something pretty to lounge around in that is comfy but ladylike. 🙂
